The Doctor Dances
May. 20th, 2006 12:17 pmSo, I'm continuing the Doctor/Rose screencap reviews with "The Doctor Dances", which seems to be a lot of people's favorite. I hope I do it justice. May include references to future episodes.

This review is a little different, since the caps are big and there are a large number of them, I chose this setting. So follow along, and enjoy, as I did!
Who else LOVED the teaser with the Doctor sending them all to their room? I thought it was funny. And yes, Doctor, they really would have been terrible last words.
Do Jack and the Doctor compare sonic things throughout the entire episode? Because seriously? Nothing can top a sonic screwdriver. Dirty enough.
I loved this scene. It was so creepy and the Doctor was working overtime trying to figure it out and we learn that the Doctor shaves. And cuts himself while at it. Did that not launch a couple fics, because I'm wondering how the hell she would know that or if she's making it up. It doesn't seem like something that Rose could make up as quick as that, so I'm thinking she knew.
HAHAHA, that banana switch. That was great and the first time you watch it, you probably don't expect it. "Don't drop the banana. Good source of potassium." Good to know the Doctor still has his sense are priorities in series two as well.
Never gets old.
I love that Rose is like "OMG, he's the adult?" And I don't think Jack really knows what to say.
And then the Doctor pulls out his sonic screwdriver while Jack is naming all these impressive sonic items, and even Rose is like, "Yeah, the screwdriver doesn't really compare." Except it does, you're just not thinking of the wide picture. And this could take an interesting turn.
Is he a little frustrated with his sonic screwdriver? I should stop. 900-years-old, just what is he missing? All those moves, does he have nobody to show? Yeah, we'll move on.
I love the detail that Rose asks the Doctor immediately if he's okay after they fall. It's sweet and a nice detail, because she still and will always, think of the Doctor first. It's okay that she's infatuated with the Captain because no matter how close the three become, it's always the Doctor first for her.
"Why is it always the great looking ones?" Yeah, the Doctor should be insulted.
Sure, his ears and nose are a little big, but come on. He's the Doctor. Although, I thought it was a really good sign that she seems to have that line between them because he's an alien. She never forgets, and I think that's important. He's alien and she needs to be aware of that. But after this episode, I expected that line to disappear. Remember how hot he was with Jabe? Yeah, with Rose, it's like magnified by 10.
I just love Rose's pure joy out of teasing the Doctor to learn that he does indeed "dance", which if you notice, the Doctor is the one that makes the metaphor. Rose was talking about dancing, like she did with Jack, the Doctor is the one that interpretated that a different way.
And she's very serious about dancing with the Doctor. "Rose, I'm trying to resonate concrete." Awesome line, because I will always love the Doctor for this line.
It's so cute when he mentions her hands, and she has to like shake her head to remember what the hell he's talking about. She's entirely wrapped up in him, it's awesome.
"Is this you dancing, 'cause I've got notes." She gets him, he's nervous about dancing. Again, how long has it been for him? And I'm not being dirty, but how long since he's really allowed himself to be with a woman?
It's just an awesome scene wherein the Doctor is smoking hot.
And then Jack interupts, and Rose's attention is pulled away from the Doctor. And he doesn't like that. I wouldn't either. If I was dancing with someone I like, someone else comes in and they get all the attention? Yeah, I feel ya Doctor.
But he can still impress her with his moves. And he's still unbearably hot, especially when he waves away the nanogenes.
I adore this scene with Nancy and Rose. Nancy is so unbelieving that the outcome is in England's favor, and Rose is PROUD to tell her they win, as she should be. it's just a lovely scene that made me wish Nancy could have gone with them, become another companion. Because let me tell you, she was less annoying then Lynda will be, no matter how sweet the girl was.
And his need for a good day? Heartbreaking, truly. For this man to plead that everyone should live just kills me, he hasn't seen anything but death, can't protect Rose from seeing the nasty side of the universe and something that was caused on accident could kill many and he's taking this huge risk to save everyone. But fixing this little boy, it's all about the Doctor. This lonely little boy, looking for his mummy, his way home, and the Doctor has to find a way to fix him. Save the boy, save himself. He's so much lighter in the next episode because he saves the day here, until they run into the Slitheen. But really, give this boy back his mummy, his home, and the Doctor can survive. Heartbreaking.
Cutest little boy ever. Although the little boy from "Aliens of London" runs pretty close.
They are all so joyous. The Doctor and Rose deserve a day like this, and Nancy deserves her son back. And then the Doctor gets to show Rose his real moves.
While looking hot.
And he shines! His eyes light up, his face shows a completely different smile, the smile that is absoutely contagious and this is the realest he's ever been. He's finally alive.
And the Captain cannot exactly take her breath away and make Rose speechless, now can he?
And look at the cat who caught the canary! That Doctor seems like he knows he's gonna be a happy man tonight.
And Rose assures him that he'll be very happy indeed.
God, his joy is just amazing. He's fixed himself, and without Rose, that may not have been possible because he'd probably would be in his next body if she wasn't there. She helped to calm him, and he needed that.
Rose is very stubbornly trying to get the Doctor to dance. I wonder how long she's wanted to do this with the Doctor, because she doesn't exactly ever give up, does she?
Aw, he's a dorky dancer, but that just endeared him more to me. And I can tell you right now, when the Doctor put out the question of who Jack wanted to dance with, at that moment, he wanted the Doctor. His little head bob when the Doctor said that wasn't embarrassment, it was to acknowledge that the Doctor was right, Rose probably would not have the first dance.
But you know what? Rose is the one that jumps up and dances with the Doctor. She could have turned him down, but she didn't. She really wanted that dance. And they have definitely wanted to dance for a while. They only have eyes for each other.
And they dance.
And then the Doctor throws this look over his shoulder to Jack, and it says "I make her happy. This is how Rose should always look. Happy and satisfied. Okay, only satisfied when she's with me, but HAPPY." So, that was really terrible, but it's possible. If a little territorial of the Doctor.
So that's the end of this one. I don't know when I'll have the next one up. I have to decide if I'm going to skip "Boomtown" or not. I didn't really like it. Aside from it boring me, there's not much progress for Rose and the Doctor. Relationship-wise, this is back before "Father's Day" probably. Anyway, I will probably do it anyway, if only to prepare myself for the final two.
And I won't do this kind of review again, it's a pain. Hope you liked! Give me your feedback, please!

Just this tiny little bit, yeah. :D

On to the review... I understand why you did the review like this... there are way too many pics to do the "notmal" way... and yes, it had to be a severe pain in the ass... But I like it better the otherway. :)
That being said, it's not like I didn't click on the links. :)
I did love this ep... the ending where everybody lives and the Doctor is sooo joyful is just wonderful to see. And I love that Rose pushed him to dance with her... and kept pushing until he did!
I did think her assumption that he didn't dance (and it was the Doctor who twisted the word dancing into a metaphor!) was funny. But I think her careless words before this about Jack being hot and implying the Dr wasn't were a bit harsh, but pretty typical for someone her age! At 19, we don't think about all our words could imply... and this just reminds us if the ages of them. :)
Excellent review... I love how these make me laugh!

Date: 2006-05-20 05:50 pm (UTC)Yes, it does. I'm always listening to it. I love it so much. And that video is beautiful.
But I like it better the otherway. :)
Me too!!

Probably. I think she was eating her words though not too long after that. ;)
I love how these make me laugh!
Oh, I'm so glad these are entertaining! Makes me kinda nervous when people don't enjoy them, not that they haven't.
Thank you! Love your comments.

Date: 2006-05-20 08:14 pm (UTC)I loved everything with the sonic screwdriver, and that resonating concrete line? My favorite. He sounds so plantive there and the way he looks back at the concrete when Rose turned up the music? He knows he's in trouble.
What I love most about that look at the end is that it's not just the Doctor. Jack returns that look. I mean, if it was just the Doctor, it could have several different meanings, but Jack just gets this look on his face that says "Yeah, man, I hear you. She's yours. It's you two and then it's me. I get it."

Date: 2006-05-20 09:28 pm (UTC)Who from the old series exactly came up with the sonic screwdriver?
when Rose turned up the music? He knows he's in trouble.
That was great when he did that!
What I love most about that look at the end is that it's not just the Doctor. Jack returns that look.
Oh most definitely! It was great.
Thank you for your comments!

Date: 2006-05-20 09:37 pm (UTC)and yeah, love that look that the Doctor throws Jack, and the look on Jack's face as he watches them dance, and he actually NODS with the thought of "mmhmm. yeah. i knew this was how it was. nothing coming in between them there..."
i have been reading all your screencap-reviews, and i do quite enjoy them. :)

Date: 2006-05-20 09:46 pm (UTC)Yes he does, and I love him like a hot thing.
At least Jack listens to the Doctor and doesn't blame him for his screw-up. He gets points for that! And major points in the following episodes.
i have been reading all your screencap-reviews, and i do quite enjoy them. :)
Thank you, I could use the smiles now. :)
Lovely as always!
Date: 2006-05-21 12:51 am (UTC)I don't dislike Boomtown, but I find when I watch it I usually skip passed the "plot points". But it's got the high five scene... and the Doctor spying on Rose (twice!)... and the Silliest Hug Ever scene... and just lots of Nine looking hot. But still not enough Nine/Rose.
I'll probably come up with more to say later, hehe.
Re: Lovely as always!
Date: 2006-05-21 01:43 am (UTC)And yeah, the silly hug is just too adorable.
Thank you! I like the other format much better, it's just these caps were so dark that the larger caps had better lighting. We'll be back to regular formatting with the next one. :)

It's so easy to spend time picking apart each episode.
I remember looking up and realizing, "Whoa, where did the last 2.5 hours go?"
I'm probably going to end up doing them all, even though I've done posts on several of the episodes already; they were without pictures. Since I only have 13 episodes to do, I can spread them out and do them when I've got time. Even if my palms are itching to go back and do "Rose"!

Yes. Yes he is. Which is the Doctor about 95% of the time. the rest...
Aw, he's a dorky dancer, but that just endeared him more to me.
It so does. he's so adorable. And hot. Can't forget the hot.
And please do Boom Town. No, it's not the best episode, but it does have some of the best Nine moments in it.

Date: 2006-05-31 02:34 am (UTC)I have been meaning to do "Boom Town" for the past two weeks and I've been caught up in real life that I haven't settled down to do it. I hopefully will tomorrow.
And Nine! Seems to get hotter in "Boom Town" as well, definitely worth it for that alone.
Thank you for commenting and enjoying! :)
