Wow. So much for being back and intending to post more!
Although, a little in my defense, I have commented on a couple journals! But at the same time I owe quite a few birthday wishes.
I'm sorry for being a bad LJ friend *pouts*
I've been caught on some shows though, watching and all that, and spending quite a bit of time with family. Like going to the flea market with the parents. I love that place so so much.
I'm...pretty sure I'm done with The Office. I haven't been watching and I don't really care to. Which is sad, because I was capping it, and have stopped. We'll see if I at least finish the season. I did watch the special "baby" episode. Liked it, but I miss what the show used to be like. Also, I think Pam was pregnant for a whole year. YIKES.
And I am watching this last season of Lost. Holy fuck. That's it.
I'm watching Chuck, too. I'm really sad that not so many others are. I thought they've had some really solid episodes. Although, this past Monday's was just...special. I think that's part of what's a small problem. Needs more "OT3" and less "OT3 and that Superman guy".
OH OH and I found BtVS on LOGO. I haven't properly watched an episode in so long. Loved that show so much.

Anyway, A LOT HAS HAPPENED. Yes, that needed all caps.
First, RIP to Ted Kennedy, a bit heartbreaking to have lost him.
Second, a very late birthday wish to the awesomelafemmedarla, hope it was lovely, hon!!
Thirdly (yes, that's getting old), how about some pics of my kitten? ( Here... )
She's gotten so big (but still pretty small) and she's still as crazy as ever.
Um...OH, I watched Glee and ADORE it, can't believe I resisted all summer to watch it.
I also caught some clips from the President's speech last night. I haven't talked much about the health care debate (here in the states) but I'm still not up to talking about it because just thinking of some of the antics going on just piss me off so frickin' much. (I am completely with the President on reform, although I don't like him potentially open to dropping the public option)

A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini and I HIGHLY recommend it for those that feel up to reading a story about two women struggling in Afghanistan over the past 30 or so years. It's pretty intense but once into it, I couldn't really put it down.
And now I think it's time I finally just go ahead and open up Persuasion (Jane Austen).
Or finish that Supernatural fic that I may or may not be writing. *sigh*

I owe some belated BIRTHDAY WISHES to two of my lovely, lovely f-listers:angdelia and marcasite and a bit of an early birthday wish to veronica_a!!

I have enjoyed some downtime with my mom, she was on vacation for over a week. Me and the parents went up to the Florida Aquarium which...probably is just a little more fun at 12 instead of 22. But still, it's a beautiful place with awesome marine-life and a Goliath Grouper and they have the Coral Farm for education and as a restoration project.
AND I was looking through Doctor Who caps because I really want to get back to iconning and Martha is so easy (:D) and I was found wondering: Why did we never see this jacket again? (We saw it in very brief flashes during "Human Nature")
It's so much better than that red one!

ANYWAY. I'm catching up on TV stuff, I'm watching Ashes to Ashes and then likequiet_fractures some of you have pushed, I'll watch Being Human. Plus, I'm still watching my American shows.

I've also somehow, very mysteriously, gotten back into Heroes. The hell?
And for some personal news, I got to spend last weekend with my grandmother and her sister, my aunt Jane/Faye/Rose/Whatever the fuck she wants to go by. Ah, three things I learned:
- I have a really small bladder.
- Older people don't know or don't seem to know/care about names. But they sure as hell know (or seem to know) if you're Mexican, Italian or apparently Irish (which I'm not, actually, and baby name sites tell me that Megan is Welsh).
- And I now know of a traveling Christian group that uses concrete as a prop.

- Ocean's Eleven is on TV, I so love this movie. I don't know why. I could watch it all day though.
- I suppose you all know about that plane that landed on the Hudson River? How amazing was that? I'm in awe of that pilot and obviously so glad that everyone made it out relatively alright.
- There's still no point to Smallville, is there?
- OH, I still haven't watched the new episode of Battlestar Galactica and I love you all for your lj-cuts. I'll be watching it tomorrow, we'll see how it goes.
- I was surprised to see a headline about a Fox News anchor arrested in FL on AOL, and when I checked it out was even more surprised that I knew who it was. This guy was on my TV all the time. That's my local Fox channel. This is him on a good day. Fucking hell, I've no idea what happened with him, I really liked him.
- So, I've told you guys that I really like Gwen on Merlin, well, someone else does too. And they've done their homework. Over here is a pretty comprehensive essay about the many different Guineveres of the Arthurian legend. Fascinating read, even if you don't watch the show and you just like the story of King Arthur itself. Although, at the same time, it's mildly disheartening because I feel they really fuck Guinevere over. Here's to keeping my(our) fingers crossed for Merlin.
- I'm really excited for Tuesday. It'll be the first inauguration that I watch live, and it's gonna be great. :D:D:D

It was interesting, there were some things picked up and some things dropped that I didn't care for, but eh. I hadn't guessed who the murderer was, so good job TB. Time will tell if I'll be curious enough to watch S2.
Now, I have all of Little Dorrit to watch and when that's finished, YES, OKAY, I will watch Merlin.

He's not fucking British. She's not British, they don't talk that way!
Ahem, when I read fic about an American show, I can overlook the occasional British spellings, but I cannot overlook when they say something THAT AMERICANS DO NOT SAY. We do not end our every sentence with "Love", we don't really address our significant others like that. There's a reason "Baby" is so overused on American shows.
Some of us go to great pains to ensure we're writing for a fandom correctly. I get a beta when I write for Doctor Who, I'm begging that you return the favor. I go pretty easy on fics, but not when they completely ruin the mood like you do.
Yeah, this isn't about any of you on my f-list, I don't think you guys know how to write bad fic :D Sorry, it's just annoying to get into a fic and realize that they didn't catch the little things. I have never called a flashlight a torch in my entire life, I thought that was pretty basic.
Although it's amusing when they use words that I don't think I've ever heard before. But then, I think I might just live a sheltered life, heh

So, I mentioned in my post the other day that I'm re-watching Firefly and I'm nearly done and I just remembered that well over a month ago I was pledging to watch my S3 DVDs of The Office and just...stopped.
I, I don't know what happened. Did "The Merger"/"The Convict" kill me as much as I thought when I watched them? Or did the fandom kill me? Most likely the latter as it's driving me bonkers.
I will probably start up watching that again soon. Once I get over my renewed Firefly glee :)
Also, I hate to do it, but I wanted to update this moodtheme. I adore this one with Rose and Martha, but I was thinking of making it, maybe, Nine and Martha, or Donna and Martha.

- I getting into making icons, specifically Doctor Who icons. Sort of a therapy to help me with my anger towards the finale. Yeah, there's just some parts of that finale I've come to loathe and I don't want to take it out on you guys, my lovely lovely f-list.
- I like to move things I don't like from my mind. Working on DW icons is really NOT the answer to that. Hmmm...I suppose co-moddingmartha_lims would fall under that. BUT she's like, the one thing from that finale that I had NO problems with.
- Anyone on my f-list watching the new USA network show In Plain Sight? I love it, it's fun, with little sides of drama and angst, and enjoyable.
- So many shows I get to watch in the summertime now! The one previously mentioned, Burn Notice, The Middleman (which I've described to some as awesome, terrible, fun and THE BEST), The Closer and Eureka. I think I'm missing something...OKAY FINE, I ADMIT IT, I'm also watching So You Think You Can Dance.
- I'm in love with the pizza place down the street from me.
- You know, I was watching something this morning to remind me of this. I mentioned something about this a couple weeks ago. Anyway, I've never made it a secret that I sympathize and relate to female characters that pine for the wrong guy. And I mentioned the other week the double standard of girls getting attacked in fandom for this and male characters in similar situaitons don't, but I FINALLY GOT IT.
Girls pine for the boys that treat them like shit, and the guys (specifically in shows I watch, this isn't widespread) pine usually for a girl that's not so bad to them (or in some cases, their best friend).
I was again reminded of this when I was watching a couple episodes of Firefly. Yeah, I'm totally re-watching all of those right now to be reminded of the AWESOMENESS. Anyway, I remembered that Kaylee pined for Simon, and that he was sometimes quite a jerk towards her. But I totally forgot that she didn't let him get away with it. She always let him know when he had said something out of line and I'm reminded why I liked them in the first place and why I utterly adored her too. Plus, he didn't do it on purpose and he was so awkward when speaking a lot of the time to Kaylee, so you almost felt bad for him.
- I'm hungry. I think I'm gonna have some of that pizza I mentioned earlier :D

So effing bored. Some thoughts:
- Took my dad to see Indiana Jones for Father's Day. Um...I rate it higher than "Temple of Doom" and that's all I got.
- My mom loved Shia LaBeouf. I just kept thinking of Even Stevens.
- My mom was watching one of those entertainment programs, and they brought up "Secret Diary of a Call Girl", which was pretty awesome. Still need to watch that. Also, people, tell me, is Billie really pregnant or is this one of those she's married now, so we're gonna hear she's pregnant for the next two years?
- Awww, my dad has a crush on Martha/Freema Agyeman.
- I truly, truly, truly hate Florida in the summertime.
- I give up, I'm watching the two, no, THREE, episodes I haven't watched of Doctor Who. I'll let y'all know what I think when I catch up. BECAUSE I KNOW YOU ALL ARE SO WAITING FOR MY OPINIONS! :D
- *sigh* I'm getting the crap kicked out of me by THREE FUCKING FANDOMS. Tell me, point in the direction of a show that's not full of all this?! No, forget it, I'm going back to watch my Wonderfalls DVDs over again. And taking a page from Jaye Tyler's attitude book: BITE ME (aimed at the fandoms, m'dears).
