Jul. 31st, 2012 12:17 amExcellent night for the US in swimming (well, Ryan Lochte is on notice).
But congrats to Missy Franklin (such a sweet girl), Matt Grevors and Nick Thoman. And there was some excellent diving in men's synchronized diving.
I'm disappointed in the US Men's Gymnastics team. They were supposed to be better then this. But good for the UK. I feel bad for the Ukraine team though.
And Misty/Kerri are still doing awesomely in beach volleyball. YAY.

Jul. 29th, 2012 05:40 pmSaw some of the Girls' Gymnastics Qualifications earlier. No USA because NBC are a bunch of bitches.
But I saw a lovely floor routine from a 29-year-old Brazilian. Great tumbler. Can't help but be surprised at her age. One of her teammates was 27. I don't know if their team qualified. Can't wait to see the US girls tonight.

I'm watching the games on NBC Primetime, trying like hell not to spoil myself (why the fuck they couldn't air this live, grrr).
Anyway, I just had to comment on my beach volleyball heroes, Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings. I just love how they love each other. LOL. I really hope I get to see them win their third (and probably final together) gold medal.

The Olympics are upon us! So excited :D
On a slightly different note, I never got to mention that I'm totally watching Suits now, did I? I love it, which is weird because I completely ignored it last year. LOL
Also, the ending of Rookie Blue last night was kind of scary. Which "scary" and RB shouldn't ever be in the same sentence :( And 2 weeks till the next episode....grrr...

Probably a quick Olympic post...
Aug. 21st, 2008 10:08 pmIt's about the women's 10m platform (diving).
( Under the cut to make this a small post... )
So...I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE MEN'S BEACH VOLLEYBALL FINAL.

I'm still so happy and proud about last night (GIP you guys).
And also, I wanted to, again, link to a post on
olympicgames08 from the same person who posted about technicality in the women's gymnastics the other day.
This post describes why some were scored as they were. Even though there were a few head scratches, it's explained well, I think.
I also give my wonderful f-list an apology about this insane sports "fanatic" who has taken over my journal.
These posts will be tapering down soon, I can almost promise.

Good day of swimming, wasn't it? My mind is busy with the gymnastics results.
( Gymnastics...Women's All Around Final... )
And...off to frickin' bed.

Really, I posted because I wanted to link to this post at
olympicgames08 because it gives an incite into the scoring from someone who definitely knows what they're talking about.
Fantastic post, check it out if you've got a couple minutes, it's not short. It's very refreshing to see because while I understand and agree with the criticisms about the gymnastics scoring, it's good to see acknowledgment that they weren't completely off base.
And what a wonderful night of swimming, again, yes? :D
P.S. Check out the new default icon ;)

Olympics - Get used to this
Aug. 12th, 2008 10:48 amI really am sorry you guys, but I promise to put everything under cuts to keep these as short as possible!

OLYMPIC SWIMMING
Aug. 11th, 2008 10:37 pmPardon the temporary influx of posts, hopefully they won't last long, nor be very lengthy. Probably lots of lj-cuts. :D

Anyone else nervous about the gymnastics men's team finals tonight? I just want our boys to do well, not hurt themselves and well...I'm really just hoping they don't hurt themselves.
And you know, I asked my dad what he thought about the new judging system, and he likes it. He said that it was really needed because it was just getting outdated and, I believe he was talking about the athletes, that they were working it to their advantage, or something.
I just wish it had been in practice for longer so it still wasn't getting worked out for the Olympics. It's been in play since 2005 apparently, nevermind.
I'm having a problem with the execution scores, though. There's such a difference sometimes. And it's hard to tell if there's a bias there or if the new scoring system makes it look like there's some bias in there. Of course, it's most likely because there are higher penalties now (for stuff like falls and hops on landings).
Beach volleyball is really fun to watch, you know? I'd really love to see May-Walsh defend their gold. And I'd like to see our men do well, too. It's just easier to cheer for the ones you know! And I don't know the men. They seem to be harder to catch on TV than the women.

*waves* Hey you guys. I just wanted to update with just a few of my thoughts on two events.
( Gymnastics... )
( Swimming... )
That's it. Did anyone else forget how many swimming events there are? I always forget they TAKE FOREVER.
OH and how cool was it that the USA's first medals where in women's individual sabre, and we swept up the gold, silver AND bronze? Pretty frickin' sweet!
