Doctor Who Spam-age-With Pics!
May. 31st, 2006 02:48 pmCourtesy of
who_daily, I saw that
ed_zeppelin had compared episodes from the current series to their counterparts of the 2005 series of Doctor Who. I liked the idea, and wanted to post my own feelings and compare episodes--With pictures as well!
Spoilers for series 1 and 2 within. All goes.
Beware of language as well.
Pics, unless otherwise noticed, are from Time and Space, Stakes and Stones Screencaps, and Leave Me the White.
Okay, more Doctor Who. I was searching through After-Shock and found some of the best behind the scenes photos and some that aren't. All are placed under the cut.
And now, because I miss him as the Doctor so much, I share my love for the 9th Doctor and for Nine/Rose.
And because I'm so nice, I will include some of the 10th Doctor.
I've posted this before, but here they are again:
Hot, and with glasses, when wet and when drying off (or so we're led to believe).
Ok, so there you are. That took me over two hours. I'm sick for doing this (for clarification). But I like it. Maybe. Hope you all enjoyed!

OPINIONS MAY VARY, WHAT FOLLOWS ARE ALL MY OWN OPINIONS AND THOUGHTS.
Rose vs. New Earth
Critical: Using my critical viewpoint, I give the edge to "Rose" because it did such an excellant job of introducing things to new viewers (such as myself). New Earth had it's moments, but it was much too shallow.
Re-watch: The episode of the two though that I have wound up watching more is "New Earth". While in many terms "Rose" is the better episode, "New Earth" is more fun to watch over and over.
The End of the World vs. Tooth and Claw
Critical: I would have to say "The End of the World" just for the emotional value. "Tooth and Claw" fell flat in some areas, although I loved most of the interactions between Rose and the Doctor, but I pretty much hated the resolution for getting rid the wolf.
Re-watch: Both. With perhaps more edge towards "The End of the World" because I love the scene with Rose and the Doctor after the world explodes so much.
The Unquiet Dead vs. School Reunion
Critical: "School Reunion". I have much love for this episode and am pretty much blind to all faults. Don't get me wrong, I'm the first to defend how much I love "The Unquiet Dead", and it is a good episode, in fact many have argued that it's the better episode in terms of main plot, but I have to go with SR.
Re-watch: As before, both. A very very slight edge towards "School Reunion" for the goodbye scene between Sarah Jane and the Doctor.
Aliens of London vs. Girl in the Fireplace
Critical: "Girl in the Fireplace" without a doubt. It's a beautiful episode with awesome villians. The only thing I didn't like was the development between the Doctor and Reinette. Wasn't well enough written for be to buy it completely. And I didn't like the Doctor going in without a plan at the end. Aliens of London had its moments, but not nearly enough.
Re-watch: "Girl in the Fireplace".
World War III vs. Rise of the Cybermen
Critical: "Rise of the Cybermen". I really liked this episode, the only downfall being Rose's stupidity in regards to her not!Dad. She knew better, but I'll blame most of that on the writer. "World War III" was better than the first part, but not enough.
Re-watch: I almost have to say neither. I really don't know.
Dalek vs. Age of Steel
Critical: "Dalek", nearly hands down. I have to say I actually give the edge to Christopher Eccleston because I don't think this episode could have been handled as well with David Tennant. Not that DT is bad, the part of the Doctor in this episode just seemed hand-made for CE.
Re-watch: It's hard to handle the emotions in "Dalek" too often, so I give this to "Age of Steel" because it has some really good scenes to re-watch.
The Long Game vs. The Idiot's Lantern
Critical: Too close for myself to really chose. Both were really good, in my opinion (as the lone fan to love "The Long Game"). I sort of give the edge to "The Idiot's Lantern", but points were taking away because of the now infamous line. It's a clunker of a line and DT just didn't deliver it. But he had some of the best moments that really make up for it.
Re-watch: This I will give to "The Idiot's Lantern" because it had some of the best moments between the Doctor and Rose.

From Series One:
Supposedly, this isn't from behind-the-scenes, but I don't really remember this from "Rose".
This isn't from behind-the-scenes either, apparently. There are actually quite a few pictures from the end of "The End of the World", but they never showed that they were holding hands. They make such a striking couple. Ah, that really makes me miss CE. The chemistry that lit up the screens last year, I bet. 'Cause it sure as hell lit up my screen this year.
Cut from "The Unquiet Dead": the hug. I'm still trying to figure it out. It's not with the behind-the-scenes pictures, so of course I assume it was supposed to be in the episode, but where would it have been placed? She has that coat thing on, and the Doctor has the newpaper, so it would have been towards the beginning, right? Oh well, it's beautiful to look at.
This is behind the scenes. I find it wonderful that Chris and Billie Piper seemed to get on as well as they did. I'm sure that helped with the chemistry that they were friends off-screen.
I loved that they seemed to let CE rehearse for "Aliens of London" without his jacket. I didn't actually think at first that he looked that good without it.
But my God, that man is beautiful.
And just because.
From "The Christmas Invasion" and Series 2:
You've probably seen these all before, but I just love them to bits and wanted to share them.
I love that they are having so much fun on set. Witness here and here(and I am also cracking up, wondering what they could be laughing about *looks around innocently*, yes, me and my dirty mind) and here(hehehe) and here. So much fun.
The famous sunglasses. God, that cracks me up every time.
Aww, even Jackie gets a hug.
It's like a Christmas card. I wonder if Jackie would send this out. Or is that an American thing?
Aww and HAHAHA.
And WTF? What's that man doing now?

I've posted these before, but I wish to share them again. From "Boom Town":
Happiness!
Rarr!
"The End of the World"
Um...yes. The director loves his audience.
No words for how beautiful this shot is.
And the scene that made a hundred icons.
"The Unquiet Dead"
Damn. Just damn.
And the look of sex. And denial. Because apparently they didn't go and have sex immediately. They waited until after "Boom Town". That's my story at least.
And...BANANA!
Why the fuck do they want us to believe that they didn't do it after this episode? I swear, "Boom Town" has to be out of order. It's just wrong otherwise.
(I know, you've seen this all before, but that doesn't stop any of us from not looking any more)

That was your only warning...
This is really over the top shipping, which isn't very me. So, bear with me.
THERE SHOULD ALWAYS BE KISSING. When they aren't under any influences though, and when they can remember it.
Guh.
Hot.
It's looks like he just smacked her bum. WHICH IS NOT A BAD THING.
Just because when I saw the episode, I was like OMGWTFAHORSE!? And I knew there was a horse involved, but when it showed up in the ship, I was like, wow.
Moving in for the hug, which is beautiful.
WHY AREN'T THEY KISSING?
And they move too fast to get a good screencap. But it's pretty.

*glares*
In other news, you're write, they are hot. Both of them. Very, very hot. Also, I think David is grinning because his head is essentially resting in Billie's breasts.

Date: 2006-06-01 12:19 am (UTC)I'm sorry.
But isn't it fun to look at his hotness, and remember it instead of mourn it?
I think anyone would grin if they head their head nestled there. Of course, then one notices that he has Noel between his legs, which is funny in a very wrong way, almost.
*blinks again*
Yeah.
*pats back awkwardly*

Date: 2006-06-01 12:24 am (UTC)But yes, the hotness is a very good thing, which is not forgetten, I must state.
lol, good point that. Who wouldn't? Especially a man who's obviously straight (or bi) as David is. Hmmm, hay, wonder if the Noel thing has anythign to do with it? *g*
Yeah, sorry 'bout that. I'll probably just end up watching more-than-normal amounts of DW and making something Nine related.

Date: 2006-06-01 12:29 am (UTC)I think David's probably just amused by it all, pleading Billie and Noel not to drop him. And yeah, being a straight man (as I'm pretty sure David is), it'd be a little weird to have a guy between the legs. But hearing David in interviews, it makes sense that he would laugh about it.
Anything Nine related sounds like heaven.
