I don't have words for this. The story of what happened to the Jessica Lunsford was just...heartbreaking and makes me sick.  Jessica's Law is named after her.  I'm whole-heartedly glad the jury found him guilty on all charges.

Since he was found guilty of 1st degree murder, he's up for life or death by injection. His defense is trying to get him considered mentally unstable so that it's only life, and as terrible as it sounds, after knowing what he did, I wouldn't be upset, or surprised, if he's given the death penalty.

It's scary because this happened in central Florida, February 2005 and there were two other slayings like this, one in Ruskin, April of the same year, which was scarily similar to this case, but unfortunately, the case against the man who did it (supposedly I guess, although he has confessed) isn't going so well, they threw out his confessions, her name was Sarah Lunde. In 2004, Carlie Brucia was kidnapped from a car wash in Sarasota, near where my mom used to work, raped and murdered.

(I consider the Tampa Bay area a part of the central Florida area, stretching from the Gulf to the Atlantic.  Interestingly, my county is considered southwest Florida area, but apparently the news consider us Tampa Bay area.  So yay!  Florida...crap)

It just makes me queasy, and the Lunde and Lunsford cases have recently been mentioned, along with the story of a 14-year-old boy who was recently kidnapped from his bus stop, here in the same county that I live in!  Luckily, the kidnapper didn't seem to know what exactly he was doing, left the boy in the middle of nowhere, the same day and left him tied up.  The boy escaped and he's safe.  Luckily, they caught the kidnapper today.

I really need to move out of the central Florida area Florida.
