So, I'm strangely re-watching S1 of Roswell, because I haven't seen it for a couple years and there's been repeats of S2 on SciFi and I remembered S1 being better, I think.

It's fun to watch, and I remember why I liked S1 and the show. Sure, it's not exactly the best acted or written show, but it seems...really cohesive and I love that.

And I'll always have mad love for the writers for making an awesome character out of Kyle. He could have been so one-note, but he turned out to be so...awesome.

Anyway, I decided not to make a post about yesterday's Doctor Who, because I'd just be expressing some of my f-list's opinions and I don't want to be repetitive. Maybe later I'll direct you all to a couple of posts that express my *squee* about the episode.

Well, like I said, I haven't seen either season for a little while, and I'm watching S2 on the repeats, so we'll see if I like it better than I remember.

Although I sort of ruined that by getting the last episode of S2 and watching it today. :D I'm such a spoil sport.

And... I just sort of pretend that season 3 doesn't exist. Except a couple episodes.

Oh yes!

I forgot how much I liked them until I watched the episode where he first kissed her last night! And the last episode of S2.

Kyle is still one of my favorite characters, ever. ;)

Season 1 is pretty good, Season 2 is great until it starts getting wacky around the end, and Season 3 is....well, there were some good moments. Kinda.

Kyle rocks, truly. And I've always loved that icon you're using now.

Season 3...are there a lot out there that pretend it all ended with S2? ;)

I don't think I've watched Roswell since the initial airing, but I do remember thinking that of all the teen SF and romance shows out there, it definitely had the best group of actors. And the adults were well done, too. They weren't just "parents", they had their own dreams and cares and ambitions, particularly Kyle's dad and Maria's mum.

I think "The Lazarus Experiment" is my favourite episode of Ten's entire run. I only cringed once (it was relatively minor) and Martha was great! It's the first episode since S1 where I actively want to rewatch. Partly, I want to clarify whether it's that this episode really is very good or whether it's just because the week before was definitely my least favourite episode of the entire New Who run (constant cringing), but I'm fairly confident of my response. It's a bit of a whiplash effect!

I'm definitely enjoying my rewatch of Roswell, and I love what they did with Kyle's dad and I have yet to re-meet Maria's mom, but it should come up soon. I like when shows give us real adults.

"The Lazarus Experiment" was definitely a good one, which is saying a lot since the science...was there actually science in there? ;)

I've actually managed to forget most of the last episode. Which is a blessing.

Aww, Roswell. Even if most of the actors were jerks *g*

I have seasons 1 and 2 on DVD *beams*

Oh really? Heh, it's why I rarely read interviews with actors, there's been very few that I like.

Well from what I hear, the actors playing Kyle and his Dad were both cool. But by the time of season 3, the rest of the actors just sat and bitched all the time about how the the show was stupid, and fought about how big their faces were on official promotional material :P

OH man. If they had such a problem, why in the world didn't they try and talk to the PTB and the writers? I mean, who the hell wants to make a show where the actors are like that?

They had all signed contracts in the beginning so didn't have much choice. The actor playing Kyle even had a public interview saying that the atmosphere on the set was really unfortunate with the other actors giving the impression that they had been forcibly dragged back, and he would just really appreciate it if everyone would do their best work, because he wasn't in such a good place as they were to move on to the next big thing. The Michael actor even wet himself to hold up shooting for the episode that the Sheffif actor was directing :/

I *think* that the actors playing Michael and Max had to turn down film contracts to return for season 3. Michael's PR guy (I can't remember the actors real name lol) came out with a bitchy statement (after the UPN stepped in over attitudes of Max and Michael) to say he thought that it had been stablished that certain people were not thrilled with having to return to Roswell. The ratings were never great, and the WB was not expected to renew it for a third year, but then the fans targeted UPN and got an extra year of Roswell. The actors had mostly had enough by then

OUCH! That sounds just horrible, I have 20% pity but really...I'm glad I didn't hear any of this at the time, would have ruined everything for me.

Luckily, I've grown up and can separate actor from show.

I don't think I've read any of the Roswell books, but that's funny to hear that the depictions were so different.

I'm starting to see that Max/Liz were just okay and that Michael/Maria are the best.

One of the things I loved about the show was the completely different turn they made Kyle and Valanti have.

Oh I know! I'll always love the writers for that, even when they started spinning crack.

Heh, Kyle and Isabel would have been great. And hey, they didn't really kill M/M completely! I just watched the S3 finale and they did end up together. *sheepish* I...was curious to how it all ended again, because I hadn't seen that episode in so long.

Now you're making me interested in the books! They sound interesting.

I don't remember understanding why Michael and Maria broke up either, but then they sort of made up for it in the finale, it was sweet.

Also, did you see that I posted your icon requests? (Over at [livejournal.com profile] inconceivable_m)
