Awesome.

Oh wow. That was fantastic, and I'm not jesting, it just...there were bits (one) I hated but really? Just wow.

I will erase the Martha scene where she laments John Smith/The Doctor didn't fall for her because...fuck, we were passed that I thought. And I want to know if it was Paul who wrote it in all on his own or if RTD wanted it.

I didn't mind the Rose mention, if only because it was a hell of a lot more natural than the other mentions. He's dreaming of his life as the Doctor, of course he'll remember her.

But if there's one reason why I'll always always always love this episode, it'll be the scene between John Smith and Joan. When he's drawing her and they kiss? BEST TEN MOMENT EVER. Sorry if you disagree, this is my opinion, and OMG it was fucking awesome.

This is a love story that I'm buying into, truly.

And I sort of love Joan.

I liked the list that the Doctor recorded for Martha, that was quite funny and sweet.

Martha packed quite the punch in that smack, didn't she? ;)

I'm gonna hate all the Ten/Rose fic that stems from this and next week, aren't I? Fuck.

But I'm SOOOOO looking forward to next week! Can't wait.

Okay, so, after this episode, I'm going to need some major help in staying away from people that will piss me off. I want to keep my enjoyment of this as high as I can, so, help?

John and Joan are just so sweet! I love their storyline because it shows us how his life could be if he were just a human being. He could fall in love and be happy. If only....

I think David did a great job with this episode and I'm sure he'll be wonderful next week as well. I think the last scene was great. He looks so terrified and confused. Fabulous.

I really liked the Rose reference. It made me tear up a bit because to him, it's all just a story. She's just this character that disappears after a while. I don't know. I just found it unbelievably sad.

The Martha, "OMG, WHY WON'T HE LOVE ME?!?!" scene is...let's just pretend that never happened. Though, I did get a good laugh out of it. "Bob and Rose" was replaying on LOGO today. Have you seen it? There's a scene where Jessica Stevenson's character is telling Lesley Sharp's character that she was jealous of her. "He fell in love with a woman....and it wasn't me." Martha's line? "You had to go and fall in love with a human...and it wasn't me." Ha!

I liked the part before the smack where the Doctor tells her that all of this is just a story. She looks so frustrated, then she brings out the Martha!Sass and tells him that he's wrong.

And whoa, Harry Lloyd. Creeping me the fuck out. I'm genuinely disturbed by his presence. Excellent job.

John and Joan are very sweet, and I think David did quite wonderfully with this episode, so I'm beyond happy!

The Martha, "OMG, WHY WON'T HE LOVE ME?!?!" scene is...let's just pretend that never happened.

Oh...I have no idea of what this scene you are talking about could be. I'VE NEVER SEEN IT. ;)

I've never seen Bob and Rose, isn't it one of RTD's though?

I liked that part before the smack too, because you can only imagine, yeah? Martha's having a panic attack over everything and he's just NOT THERE.

Hmmm...I don't know what to think about Harry Lloyd! His accent was bothersome, especially since I just watched an episode of Robin Hood that his I'm pretty sure the accent he used on DW was NOT his natural one. But he was quite creepy.

Yup, Bob and Rose is an RTD creation...which is what made it funny to begin with. Plus the Jessica Stevenson connection. (I think the series is great, btw. It brings up some interesting points about sexuality.)

Poor Martha. I love that she keeps trying though. She's got a great spirit. Oh and I was cheering when she whipped out the sonic screwdriver. So smart.

Those looks are what did it for me. Ooh and when he yelled at Martha's friend when they were in the spaceship thingy. It took me a while to figure out who the actor was. I knew he looked familiar but I had to imdb the ep, to put it all together. He's so dishy on Robin Hood.

I love Martha, but it's when the writers give her those moments that I have problems. In fact, those are the times I actively don't like Martha. But moments where she's slapping the Doctor and getting something to get the Doctor's memory back and just being so...Martha that makes me love her.

He's definitely a lot cuter on Robin Hood!

Ooh, I recorded Bob and Rose this morning. Haven't watched it yet, but it's there :)

Did you record all of the eps? By the time I rolled out of bed, they were showing the third episode.

Whatever you managed to record, I hope you enjoy it! :-)

It wasn't...shippy though? I'm not even trying to be mean because...it just...wasn't?

I'll take it because it was a very natural mention. I'm glad you're enjoying it, but just remind me to stay away from the more heavy shipping population.

Am I getting too touchy about this?

Heh. I gotta love ya anyway.

LMAO you must avoid me then cause after looking at caps, I plan to squee my shipper ass off. :)

From: [identity profile] meganlynn09.livejournal.com
Well, you do that then. The shippers are going to blow my head up, I know it. This is why I wish to God sometimes that I liked Ten/Rose.

But you know, I'll still like ya. I guess. ;)

Hey and I still manage to like you. :) I will watch out for the chuncks of blowing head, because the more I see and read, the more I am squeeing.

And I'm not trying to take away your squee at all! I just think...you should watch the scene to judge for yourself.

I know shippy when I see it, and that scene...just really didn't play out as shippy to me, at all. But you take what you can get.

*hugs*

Oh yeah I have seen that particular scene and it was very shippy to me. Nah I am not just taking what I can get. It just oozes with ship to me. Hugs back.

Oh, huh. We all read scenes differently, otherwise everyone would have the same opinion. I find it funny that we liked a scene for opposite reasons though!

Yeah I actually watch scenes with Rose mentions and even my non fandom friend in England jumped right on her IM to tell me about the shippiness. That one is going in my archive.

Thank God for downloads and caps. I just e-mailed you. People have the caps everywhere. He wrote I know her. I know her. She is my.... and then elsewhere he has on the page perfect Rose. And she is always walking away. Hell yeah it is love. :)

Oh I know it doesn't mean she is his true love forever or that she is coming back and having watched the acene, I can say I wasn't taking what I can get. It was shippy to me. And yep what he wrote was key.

I must confess a small smile at people going "YAYE EIGHT IS CANON" based on the journal :)

And I am terribly pleased that there's nothing that directly contradicted the half-human thing and darn I am now torn over whether the Doctor's mum's name was Susan or Verity.

From: [identity profile] kammgirl.livejournal.com
Oh was there a connection to Eight that I missed? I didxn't actually know there was a question that Eight was canon.

Date: 2007-05-27 12:23 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] nostalgia-lj.livejournal.com
There's a picture of Eight in the journals (and this is sadly my only Eight-related icon. Err, it is mad joke obvs as Ace > Anji in my brain, etc.)

I have never quite understood "Eight Doesn't Count" but I believe it stems from his terrible crime of Kissing A Girl and telling her that his mum was human. But I thought mostly people just counted Eight and pretended those bits didn't happen (like how I think Nine happened, but The Long Game was some terrible dream I had)?

I have a special affection for Eight. I love the audios, and I really like Charley. I liked the movie too and I would think that it counted. Well IMO anyway. The whole Eric Robets spitting acid was a bit hard to take, but Eight was so Byronesque. His actions seem to fit with that incarnation. I read somewhere that the movie was considered part of the Divergent universe and that the Doctor's actions were explained by his being infected with anti-time. I may have that wrong though.

PS. I'm so not encouraging the cancellation of SGA, except that I am.

Well, their ratings really aren't helping. I heard they just reached their lowest ratings with "Tao of Rodney", I believe.

I don't even know what I want from that show anymore. Just more Elizabeth. *pouts*

The highest rated episode was The Real World

WOW, although, come to think about it, it followed the SG1 episode "200", so that might have something to do with it. You know, people sticking around to catch SGA. But I'll chose to believe it was because of Elizabeth as well.

S4, although some of it sounds pretty cool, it's just scaring me how also NOT good it's sounding. Makes me sad. :(

Hey chick I read in places that it was very shippy. God I love how Rose is always being thought of in S3 and that it is consistently shown that Ten is in love with her. Squee worthy. God bless Rusty's shippy heart.

One thing I did like was that the ep was genius at handling all the shippers. Rose and Reinette got mentions, Martha got the usual stuff, and everyone else can bask in the awesomeness that is the Doctor canonically being a devil with an eye for the ladies. (And the slashers can just handwave that Smith wouldn't write about liking boys. Cos... yeah.)

Plus there was ample femslash material, a few biscuits for the Martha/TARDIS shipper (who I assume exists somewhere), and of course posh people are inherently homoerotic.
