GOOD LORD what is happening in the Doctor Who fandom? It seems like every little thing someone says in relation to S3 comes under scrutiny and it's just becoming painful to try and understand what everyone's getting at.

If I post here that I absolutely and completely adored Martha Jones, who's gonna start ragging on me?

If I said S3 was better than S2, I didn't missed Rose(at all, sorry), RTD(and other writers) made me simultaneously love and hate Ten, and that the finale just...wasn't that good, am I gonna have someone come into my journal and tell me off? Or are they gonna start a post in their own journal?

I haven't given up on watching DW, but fuck me, this fandom makes me want to give it up.

SHIP WHO YOU WANT TO SHIP AND LEAVE OTHERS ALONE. Like who you want to like and leave me alone. It's okay if someone disagrees with you, there's someone out there who does agree.

Heavens knows things in fandom bug the fucking hell out of me, but I try to be rational about them and/or ignore them.

Take the fucking high road.

I'm...not even going to try and touch the racism debate going around.

Yeah, the DW and SGA fandoms are pretty bad with the bitching, and it's really hard sometimes because I had a really good experience coming into the DW fandom.

Weir some/most dislike/hate Teyla and vice versa.

I really don't like that, cause yeah, Lizzie's my fave but I really like Teyla.

DW fandom: there's [livejournal.com profile] doctorwho, and the newsletter [livejournal.com profile] who_daily. The first one you can post any DW question ya like, get lots of debates there. I took it off my f-list a couple weeks ago.

*hugs* DW fandom is so frustrating lately. It's either people hating Martha before she even arrived, just because she's not Rose, or people being so determined to love Martha before her first episode even aired, because of hating Rose. It all seems so divided and petty, why can't everyone just watch the show, and then form their opinions. Not based on their feelings for another character. It makes it tough to be a fan of both Rose and Martha *sighs*

And season 3 was way better than season 2! I thought everyone thought that *g*

Yes! I hated that so much, I really did. And then it just got worse as S3 aired.

Apparently not :(

I think people are forgetting to make the distinction between communities, and personal LJ's, when it comes to getting excited over these discussions. I love who daily as a great resource for fandom, but some people seem to use it to really come on strong in the linked LJ's. I've seen some of my friends get trolled for their shippy discussion of D/R this year, when the get over it comments just aren't appropriate in the persons own space

And season 3 had the Master, it pwned everything! XD

Yeah, while I like [livejournal.com profile] who_daily to find discussions I've missed, it seems ripe for finding places for people to start trouble.

The Master was pretty wicked, yeah. :)

Yeah, it's forced some of my flist to start having to lock posts, which kind of sucks.

And I've finished the first season of Life On Mars now, and you so need to watch it! It's awesome :D

Hardly, well not this someone who agrees! ;-)

Yeah it is a shame. Starting your own comms comes under attack. Shipping who you like even after they are gone comes under attack. Not liking Martha means you are racist, priviledged (because being white automatically qualifies you as priviledged no matter what) and enjoying a ship makes you a right wing fundamentalist. S3 has much to discuss and so many seem focused on what others are enjoying because they are unhappy with fic and are bored. Fandom makes me shake my head.

Oh and I loved S2 way more then S3 in every regard, and that would have been the case even if Rose had been in it. There was just nothing to S3 really other then my extreme love of the Master and Lucy. But I am way excited about S4.

But yeah people are stalking LJs and I have seen people enter journals all over the place. This is why most D/R fans I know lock their entries. Who needs the stress when you are just trying to enjoy?

I thought you weren't watching S3! Except for the last 3.

Yeah, we're definitely the opposites on S2 and S3, but we already knew that!

I'm looking forward to S4 as well, just well, you know why I'm a bit reluctant.

But yeah people are stalking LJs and I have seen people enter journals all over the place.

I'm so happy that nobody finds my journal important enough to do that to because I love having my journal and 95% of my posts un-flocked. It sucks that some people just have to be jackasses.

Totally agree honey. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion without everyone who disagrees attacking them! I mean...I loved the finale, but I'm not going to get all OMGWTF on you because you didn't like it that much! (Although I must admit my John Simm love may have made me a bit biased =P) People who are like that really get on my nerves. Variety is the spice of life after all! *hugs* =D

There were definite bits to like about the finale, but it just really really hurt to lost Martha like that. I think feeling defensive of her all season just attached me more to her. But re-watching it here on SciFi just reaffirms that I just genuinely adored her.

I'm huge on people having their own opinions, it's always been a thing of mine ever since someone told me what I was doing wrong in my life.

*hugs* OH, and John Simm on DW is why I'm sitting down right now to watch the first episode of Life on Mars!

I've been wondering if it was because not only is the series over, leaving a big vacuum, the ending was a disappointment to so many - and just messy by any standard, so there are lots of threads strewn everywhere - and it has everyone set on edge.

It very much may be because the season is over, but some of the people's issues have been brewing since before the season started, so now it's just exploding. I don't know. It didn't seem like this last year.

Yeah, it's really getting scary.

OH, I've definitely been getting obsessed with The Office fandom, which seems beyond weird. And it is, but a lovely distraction.

Plus, I'm about to start watching Life of Mars.

I think most of the racism stuff isn't actually towards shippers, it's mostly towards RTD. Something about this isn't the first time he's have a non-white lead treated kinda badly. Or something, it's all really started to get jumbled.

I really don't get lol, because putting aside skin colour, Martha was more privileged than Rose! Martha came from a fairly well-off family, they lived in a nice house, Martha was training to be a medical student.

Rose was the one living in the council flat, the shopgirl that some of fandom called a chav, and having the tarty mother always inviting strange men round. The accusations I heard was that Rose fans like Rose more because she is supposedly a "chav", and they can't relate to someone a bit more intelligent and middle-class like Martha. But now it seems that Rose fans are seen as more privileged and right-wing? Make up your minds, people *g*

I guess all white people are priviledged. Someone should inform all those really priviledged white people in Appalachia. How dare they pretend to be impoverished.
