This is how bored I am
May. 8th, 2006 11:41 am"The Unquiet Dead"
More Doctor Who screencap goodness. This time, the relationship between the Doctor and Rose most definitely changes, for the better in my opinion.
References to future episodes (within series one) so beware if you haven't seen them all. Enjoy!
Stakes and Stones Screencaps are where I get my screencaps.

"Better with two." The line that probably launched a thousand fics. Or should have because many things are better with two. But here, she just gets the exploring nature of the Doctor and why he's never still and its a joy to her. And it's so very cute because that enthusiam is exactly what the Doctor needs right now.

And it makes him happy. I also wanted to point out that I love the Doctor's watch. I don't understand if it's important or not, but it's cute because he's the 900-year-old alien wearing what looks like a normal human watch. I have a thing for those kind of details. Moving on.

Ah, the Doctor's nowhere near in love yet, but somebody has a crush. "You look beautiful!" She does, he's just stating the obvious and surprising the hell out of himself. He's the type of guy that probably doesn't think before he speaks because if he did, he either wouldn't have complimented Rose or wouldn't have added on that stupid "Considering..."

And while surprised at his first reaction, she's very pleased becauseher breasts have never looked this good she has a little crush as well.

Partners in crime! Or at least it looks like that to me. I just love how much you can see that they are completely enjoying these adventures, so soon, with each other. That's the key to me, that it's them together that really makes this fun. It wouldn't be anything like this if Mickey had come along, and it wouldn't be the same if it were anyone but this Doctor.

I...never noticed this look on his face when he finds Rose in the room with the zombies. I don't know what it means, but I like it. There's this constant intensity about the Doctor and Rose is the perfect balance to that right now because she's 19 and relatively light-hearted. And I loved his line "I think this is my dance" when he grabbed her from the zombies.

He's such a child, "Hi!" He's either excited and in the moment or he's just excited that "Yay! I rescued Rose!" But she returns it.

And he doesn't let go, and she...doesn't mind. I never noticed that before either. He keeps his arm around her the entire time, and she, I think, is gripping his jacket. They really don't have personal spaces (or bubbles as I call them). I like that, where you have that instant connection with a person that you're not bothered that he holds your hand or you feel comfortable snuggling his arm and don't mind his arm around your waist. While they haven't reached that emotional sort of relationship, they almost immediately have a physical one (and it's not sexual in my opinion). For the Doctor, it's a reminder that he can still feel, the constant hand-holding, it's for his benefit, right now, so he knows that 1) he's not alone and 2) he's alive.

And he still gets a kick out of her reactions, even when he's not introducing her to something or whatever. She's feisty and he likes that (but not in some dirty way, he just likes that she tries to defend herself even when she can't).

This was good, when the Gelth mentioned the Time War, he searched out Rose's face, looked at her, reminder that she's there and to tell her that he's going to help them because of the War, because he can save somebody. She doesn't understand this though, because she doesn't know what he did, the audience doesn't understand because they won't know until "Dalek". Watching this after "Dalek" puts it into better perspective why he wanted to help the Gelth. It's amazing how every episode ties together in the end.

And they have their second argument, but this time it's different. They're all different but this is the first time she really challenges his decision and it knocks him for a loop because as feisty as she is, he never expected her to question him and that's interesting. Does he never expect her to question him? Or did he expect her to readily agree to this for his benefit?

"You heard what they said, time's short. I can't worry about a few corpses when the last of the Gelth could be dying."
But then he looks at her like this and it makes sense. He gets why she objects and if the results they see here were not from the Time War he wouldn't have been so resistant to her pleas to not be doing this, to not using Gwyneth. But he still looks at her like "I know better than you", it's just combined with an "I'm sorry" because he's sorry that she has to be wrong (even though she's not).

And she looks at him like this. Her puppy dog eyes. I don't know why. It's cute that she tries to use them on the Doctor.

I love that he's her protector in this episode. All he keeps doing is pushing and pulling her away from the danger. He doesn't do that so often in future episodes, he tries to keep her out of harm's way but he's not this proactive and I think it's because he starts to trust that she can protect herself, but he continues to try and protect in other ways, some more drastic than others. I don't think that made the most sense.

Ah, the hand-porn! That she initiates. Because she realizes quite quickly that he's a strength of hers and the idea that she'll go down fighting with him makes her feel better. Not because they'll both die, but because she'll be with him, and it's nothing romantic(yet). This man has, in such a short time, given her sights and adventures that she would never had dreamed about. She'd be proud to fight at his side and they both get that.

Annnnd, he looks at her like this. I would have completely forgotten that I was about to die, but that's beside the point. "I'm so glad I met you" is such a beautiful sentiment. Because while he's glad to have met her, he's glad to have met a reminder that he can move on from the past.

And she's so pleased as well. And stares at his mouth. Which reminds me of another show I watch where they stare at each others mouths and into each others eyes and you wonder why they don't jump each other, but that's besides the point.

I liked this. The way she stares at the Doctor when he gets out alone. She's surprised, shocked, and betrayed. She already has so much faith in the Doctor that she trusted him to save the girl, and she's in shock that he didn't. Even after he tells her that Gwyneth was already dead, she hates that he just told her that he's fallible.

He's surprised. Like "You kissed Charles Dickens", so he's either thinking "When do I get mine?" or "Should I kiss Charles as well?" And I think...

He's wonder when does he get his. That look makes one think what he planned on doing once they're alone. That's a hella sexy look, that again, I didn't see in the episode. Kinda like that one in "The Doctor Dances" that he gives Rose before Jack interrupts them with teleportation or whatever.
So, there is "The Unquiet Dead". The next one I do with be both "Aliens of London" and "World War III" because I can't do them each alone. After that, I think I might do "Dalek" and "The Long Game" together, because relationship-wise, I don't have enough to do those on their own either. So, I'm sure you can't wait *sarcastic grin*.
I haven't actually watched the episode for a while, so a lot of my observations are "Wow, I don't remember that look" and then I analyze. Sorry if that's bothersome.
So, I really enjoy doing these. I hope people can enjoy looking at them.

Date: 2006-05-08 09:23 pm (UTC)I just began noticing the watch this weekend. And there's just something about it... I wasn't thinking so much of him being an alien as him being a time traveler. I mean, what time zone do you set such a watch to?

Date: 2006-05-27 08:19 pm (UTC)I can't remember which ep it was in, but there's one scene where the Doctor says what year it is after looking at his watch. So, perhaps it's a slightly hi-tech watch in that it tells the year and not just the time.

Date: 2006-05-18 06:19 pm (UTC)It's interesting, when he's standing alone, angry or upset, he crosses his arms and he gives a very "Keep away" vibe. In fact, it was kinda continued with Ten in "Rise of the Cybermen".
like maybe he's just giving a critical opinion on beauty in general..."Now, there's a lovely specimen of garden slug."
LMAO. He would say that though.
