The Kitchen God's Wife by Amy Tan
Maybe that fortune-teller could not have told me anything to change my fate. Maybe she used only the most ordinary tricks and nothing she said was genuine. But what she said was certainly true about me: Unhappiness was coming my way, and I did nothing to keep that speck from blowing in my eye.
I read this book back in high school, and really liked it. I would recommend it. It might be a little hard to read at certain points, because there's nothing really held back by certain point of views - it's hard to explain. It's a good book though.
And...that's what you get when all your books are next to you when you're tagged for this meme :D It was this or Pygmalion, as they were both nearest me.
Some random things....
-I still haven't watched any Torchwood episodes. I've no idea why. Icons I've seen are enticing me.
-I'm keeping up with the new episodes of Primeval, though, and loving it. Can't wait to see the newest one.
-I love Torri Higginson.
-I really, really hope the rumors of the writers' strike being over by Monday are true. But if the writers don't find it fair, I'll find a way to deal with that because they deserve a fair deal.
-I think I'm pretty much done with Smallville.
-I want The Office back NOW, seriously.
-I love you guys. *HUGS ALL AROUND*

I think Clana has pretty much killed my complete enjoyment of Smallville. Yeah, I quite liked the one with Ollie, and I was surprised by my interest in the one after. But the foreshadowing of Chloe's death, it's putting another damper on watching and I just can't fucking stand Lana anymore.
Oh yay, I'm getting my icons back tomorrow! I miss all 107 of them so much :D

Date: 2008-02-23 12:45 am (UTC)The Chloe thing feels weird because we had Clark worried about her being put in danger one week and the next he's questioning her about what happens the next time she uses her ability, is she gonna live again, it just feels like foreshadowing.
But, they seem to do this "foreshadowing" a lot, and it leads nowhere, so here's to hoping it's nothing, like usual :D
