Nov. 20th, 2008 11:24 amSTOP FUCKING WRITING THEM THAT WAY.
He's not fucking British. She's not British, they don't talk that way!
Ahem, when I read fic about an American show, I can overlook the occasional British spellings, but I cannot overlook when they say something THAT AMERICANS DO NOT SAY. We do not end our every sentence with "Love", we don't really address our significant others like that. There's a reason "Baby" is so overused on American shows.
Some of us go to great pains to ensure we're writing for a fandom correctly. I get a beta when I write for Doctor Who, I'm begging that you return the favor. I go pretty easy on fics, but not when they completely ruin the mood like you do.
Yeah, this isn't about any of you on my f-list, I don't think you guys know how to write bad fic :D Sorry, it's just annoying to get into a fic and realize that they didn't catch the little things. I have never called a flashlight a torch in my entire life, I thought that was pretty basic.
Although it's amusing when they use words that I don't think I've ever heard before. But then, I think I might just live a sheltered life, heh
/pointless rant over
*goes back to staring at mood theme*

This girl? American. So bleh. Also, this doesn't apply to BSG, because it's not really American and half the actors are Canadian anyway. ;)

Date: 2008-11-21 01:04 am (UTC)Heh, sometimes I trick myself up when I spell certain words. I'm pretty sure I have some spellings I use that aren't American.
