I'm a mean person
Jul. 28th, 2006 07:57 pmAnd I'm also behind on the times because when I was at the grocery store today, I say a magazine that had Lance Bass saying "I'm Gay", and it wasn't one of those trashy mags.
I say that I'm a mean person because this news amuses me to no end.
I was standing in a line to check out and I just kept giggling to myself every time I looked at it.
I'm so 12!
(Not really, I turn 20 this September)
But yes, Lance Bass, formerly of N*Sync, is gay. And I laughed.
That is all.
P.S.
I love Christopher Eccleston.

Have you seen the new icons here: http://community.livejournal.com/stormfronticons/25725.html#cutid1

Date: 2006-07-29 02:39 am (UTC)The thing is, that People cover is funny - not because he's saying he's gay, but it's just so camp. It's almost offensive, it's so stereotypical, but it is so obvious that it becomes high comedy.
Or is that low comedy?
I love Christopher Eccleston
I think there are a lot of us out there... BTW, those new icons - how come we keep getting new images from that same photo session in little dribs and drabs? Why can't we get them all at once? Because, lo, that was obviously a very productive and aesthetically pleasing (not to mention sexy) photo session.
Did you notice in the comments someone questioning whether CE could possibly be sexy?

Date: 2006-07-29 02:50 am (UTC)Oh Chris. How pretty you really are. Who cares about DT being cute on Doctor Who when you have this stunningly sexy, hot and beautiful man?
Whoever shot this photoshoot should get an award.
I found it hilarious that people were surprised that he could be sexy. Maybe I'm blind by my love for him, but damn, open the eyes people!

Date: 2006-07-29 03:01 am (UTC)It's a shame, really, that they've been so intent on selling DT as "cute" that it runs the risk of having a backlash effect on CE. They needn't be in competition. But DT is "boyish", and for me, it's hard to buy boyish as sexy. Even when CE was in his late 20s and playing rather sweet roles (see icon), he was an adult man. I thought he was way sexier than Ewan MacGregor in Shallow Grave, too, and it was a matter of charisma. But then again, why compare them?

Yeah, you do have to wonder! Oh, well, maybe they're 14 and can't see beyond "cute" - I have to remind myself that some people out there in LJ-land are 14, literally or metaphorically.
Then again, I really don't see the point of Heath Ledger and find him quite unattractive.

Date: 2006-07-29 03:27 am (UTC)You know, there really isn't a point to compare them, but the fact that DT "replaced" CE on DW, one really can't help it. I don't like using the word "replaced" though, it seem wrong.

When I squee over CE, I feel like I'm 14, but I know when I act like that and I mostly do that on purpose because CE is such a good cause to gush over. I don't really know what my point was, it's just I don't really like running into people that are 14 permenantly.

Oh, I've have a massive crush on him since I first saw him in 10 Things I Hate About You when it was first out in theaters. And it was just cemented in A Knight's Tale. But it's a very shallow crush, as it wasn't enough to make me go see Brokeback Mountain.

Date: 2006-07-29 05:10 am (UTC)I know, and I understand why there are the comparisons - especially since they have Rose in common - it's just sometimes people get to the point where they think they have to choose one and disparage the other. I was ready to accept Ten, and I think David Tennant is very cute. But it was his performance, not the fact that he was "replacing" Nine/CE that bothered me. True, it may bother me more because I have Nine/S1 to compare it to, so there's disappointment.

That's certainly true! :-) Squee can be great fun; I just note a difference in the type of squee over Nine and Ten - it's really obvious on TWOP's Ninth and Tenth threads. The "Ten" thread is really mostly about DT.

Exactly. When a married woman declared that a 20 year age gap was "grody", I was a bit concerned....
Re: Heath Ledger, I think he's become a pretty good actor - but in 10 Things, I loved Kat alone more than I liked her in the couple. Still, what I really adored was Michael and Cameron. "We're screwed."/"More upbeat."/"We're screwed!" I also remember having a very distinct, "Awww, our little boy is growing up!" moment with David Krumholtz when he showed up at the dance in that red velvet jacket as William Shakespeare.
What's really funny now is that Joseph Gordon-Levitt showed up in an episode of Numb3rs, and although he was a little taller than DK then, he towers over him now. Except that he's only supposed to be about 5'8", which means that DK is tiny. Which is rather sweet.

That bothers me, while, yes we have the actors to thank for the characters, it's really the character of Nine that I was into, I didn't get into the actor until well after I'd seen the episodes. That's why I always separate my posts into Nine piles and into CE piles.

I love short male actors, Ben Stiller is another example, because you watch him in movies and the female leads are just as tall as him and the other male actors tower over him, and yet it never takes away from his performance, which I can probably safely say is the same with DK.
