I was re-watching Doctor Who, "The Empty Child" today, and I was struck by inspiration.  It's from one of my favorite scenes.

I don't know if anybody would like it, but I had to share the love.  Seriously one of my favorite episodes.

If you by chance do like it, you may snag it, credit me.  Caps by me as well.

Just thinking about that scene makes me giggle.  Enjoy!  God, I'm so bored.

"The Empty Child" and "The Doctor Dances" are my two favorite episodes. For me they have this wonderful romantic feel to them, in spite of all the scary stuff-- but that too really pulled me in as well.

This scene that you did the gif of makes me giggle too; I loved the dialog exchange between them and was just thinking of it over the weekend.

He's so ineffectually threatening to Nancy, she just giggles at his offense and I could tweak her little rosey cheeks.

There's another scene that tickles me as well; when the Doctor is peeking over the wall watching the family go into the bomb shelter, he's just such a big doofy kid spying on them and grinning at their bickering. I loved it.

I think I like it so much because I love Nancy. She's awesome. How she stands up to and teases this man that just is mysteriously following her, and doesn't even try to back down. She's awesome, and this scene just makes me adore her.

Oh it's great! It's like he doesn't do domestic, but he has no problem watching this family bicker and hide. He's so amused by humans.

Nancy is one of the standout supporting characters in any of the episodes. Unconventional in many senses, and yet while strong and resilient she is also inwardly fragile.
The Doctor was very fascinated by her, and I could see that she was just as fascinated by him in the way she could never seem to shake him off her trail.

Agreed. It would have been fabulous to see her again, somehow. Still would love to.

I love Nancy passionately. She's so strong. Part of me would have really loved to have seen an AU in which Nancy is a companion, Jamie and all.

I've mentioned it to Megan before, but it's quite striking that Chris Eccleston has this magic way with teenaged girls. It's sensual and affectionate, more friendly than paternal, but also sweet and innocent. Rose is the only time it's seemed to be more...

What is that power he has? This amazing charm and openness that just reaches out and pulls them without question and instills complete trust? He can do it with just a look at times. Its the playfulness in his eyes, the glint of mischievousness, and then the confident manner and thoughtful silences and poignant stares.

He is that rebel, loner poet type that every teenage girl is drawn toward at some point. Leather jacket and all. It’s the mystery of the man as well as that fantastically inviting smile.

He is the poet-rebel, but he's also the teacher and the priest (literally in the case of Anchoress, although he was a bit clueless there...). But you're right, a lot of it is in the incredible focus that he gives you. I was just saying to Megan last night that one of the reasons he arrests your attention is because he gives his attention to you/the camera (and he does work a camera like nobody's business, which ain't easy).

The first time I noticed this weird thing he does with girls was in the miniseries Hearts and Minds; he played a young trainee teacher, and one of his students was this shy Muslim girl, Sahira, whom he tried to nurture despite her overbearing father and a system that kept telling him to leave her alone. But you never once got a sense that there was anything inappropriate his attentions, which was kind of amazing.

And in addition to Rose and Nancy, there was Strumpet. Despite the fact that they were physically very intimate in terms of personal boundaries and nudity, and apparently slept in the same bed by the time they move to London, I was almost shocked by the kiss at the end of the movie, because their relationship seemed so innocent. That said, that final scene was exhilarating, and his eyes were very, very blue.

I feel like I'm missing examples...

It's clear that I've got so much catching up to do.

You've just reminded me of another movie I have to see of his.

Uh, duh, yeah. Kate Winslet in Jude was only 18. I knew I was missing a big one! Of course, that was sexual, onscreen at least, but from the way she talked about him, he was a perfect gentleman and very helpful to her in some pretty explicit sex scenes.
