Oh wow

I...made a fanvideo to Doctor Who.  To the episode "The Parting of the Ways".  I have no idea how I got the idea, but I did and I used a song that I've sort of become obsessed with, Leah Andreone's "Lamentation".  Unfortunately, I didn't think ahead and I'm having trouble with the music portion so I can't post it until next week, or so.  But I made a fanvid.  OMG, how this show eats my brains.

But yeah, I'm getting the whole CD of hers, Alchemy, and it sounds pretty awesome.  Can't wait.

On a completely different note, I was watching ER this morning, and the character Peter gave this awesome little speech.  I can't find any written anywhere, but he just describes how much he loves his son, and pleads that his son not be taken from him and the actor does it in this desparate, heartbreaking way that it just made me want to weep for him.  I did find out that the writer of the episode was John Wells, and he always has the best dialogue.  I love his scripts and episodes.  But yeah, that just really stood out to me.  The episode was "The Peace of Wild Things" if anyone cares, from season 6.

See?  ER used to be this amazing show about these characters that worked in a hospital and you cared about them.  You cared that Peter might not be the biological father of his son, that Lucy died and that Carter was stabbed and when Carol when back to Doug.  *cries*  I miss that!

So, that's it for today.  I'm working on a new batch of icons to be posted soon, if anyone still wants to make a request.

Later!

P.S. This is also a GIP because this is one of my own icons that I just love.  I'm so happy with the cropping and the coloring and everything.  I'm not a person to go all OMG, look at how awesome all my icons are, but there are that few of mine that just make me so happy with how they turn out.

I love to watch certain fanvids, but I've never made one myself, never felt the need. But this one song just invaded my head and I had to use it to make a video. I hope to have it up by the end of next week.

Oh, you have Sparky vids? I have to check those out.

I still cry when I watch the episode when Lucy dies.

I'll definitely have to use some of those for icons! I just finished a batch of SGA, it was an episode that I downloaded caps of, and I was dreadfully down on Sparky! I have to add these into the batch. Thanks!

I will be checking our those vids! ;)

OK, I am completely in love with ER. This summer, my mom and my sister and I have been getting the DVDs and watching about an episode a day. We started from the first episode and we just saw the last episode of season three. My mom used to watch it when it was on, but she stopped watching when George Clooney left ;) I've heard that the quality of the show declined, though. That's sad. I guess we'll have to quit watching after a few more seasons.

I continued to enjoy the series for a litte while after George Clooney left. I really didn't stop watching for a couple more seasons they started visiting the Congo.

In fact I loved watching because of a character that came on a little while after Clooney left. I loved her character, but soon it just wasn't enough. The show had declined a lot.

When you get further into the seasons, I'll make sure to tell you an episode you have to watch. I have no clue if anyone else liked it, but it's my favorite episode ever of ER.

Visiting the Congo? Hmm, didn't know about that. Did it work or was it a gimmick?

My mom told me that a character comes on in season four that she didn't like. I guess I'll see tonight.

Wow, I'll make sure to see the episode, then. It's weird, the episodes kind of blend together so it's hard to choose a favorite, but when I saw the one with Ewan McGregor I decided that was my favorite. Although the season three Christmas episode was rather nice.

Doesn't Susan Lewis come back, by the way? We were all sad that she left!

I suppose when they went to the Congo it worked okay, they started doing it quite a bit. I think what hurt was that when they did those episodes, that's all you saw. Nothing took place in the hospital, it was all in the Congo, and that was rough.

I really like the one with Ewan McGregor. And it's funny that I just complained about not being at the hospital because my favorite episode takes place mostly out of the hospital.

And yeah, Susan comes back.

Hmm, I see. What season was that?

I think it's just easier to see the ones outside of the hospital as distinct episodes. I liked the one with George Clooney trying to save that kid.

Do you remember Susan's boyfriend Div from season one? They built up all this dramatic stuff with him feeling depressed, and then an episode ends with him standing in the middle of traffic in the rain--and then he's just gone in the next episode. Finally, several episodes down the line, they threw in a bit of dialogue about him getting married, but it was just the weirdest way to drop a character.

I knew you were going to ask! It involves a character you don't meet until after Clooney leaves, and his character's arc is odd. You sort of like him at first, then you do, then you hate him, and then you like him again, and then I sort of fell in love with him when I watched a few recent episodes.

It starts at the end of season 9, so you have a while before you reach it.

Do you remember Susan's boyfriend Div from season one?

Unfortunately, I don't remember anything from the early seasons. But that does seem extremely odd.

Season 9, hm, that is a while on. I don't even think those are on DVD yet, are they? Last I heard, they were up to season 6. As far as male characters go, my sister and I are partial to Carter :x But my mother will always have a crush on George Clooney.

Oh, we started season 4, and Mariska Hargitay is in it! Very exciting. I hope she stays on a while.

Yeah, they just sort of got rid of Div and hoped no one would notice, I think. My mom and I used to have a running tally of characters they did that to. Haha, and in season three (I think?) they switched the actor for Jeannie's husband! Oh well. We noticed!

(This is way off-topic, but: I was watching the special features on the DVD of Earthshock, and they had a little making-of thing, and a bunch of people from the episode were saying they should have just run the Doctor Who theme over the end credits instead of having silence. So they end the making-of thing by playing the final minutes of Earthshock, with everyone crying and looking sad, and then they tack on the regular ending music--haha, that was just amusing. It's like, "Adric's dead... ADVENTURES IN TIME AND SPACE YAY")

I have no idea. I watch it every morning because they have repeats running on one of the stations.

They did? I never noticed/knew that. Probably because I didn't pay attention to the early episodes. But ER actually has a thing of changing actors of minor characters. That wasn't the last time they did that.

I liked the silence. It would be like the show itself was celebrating the death of a companion. Doesn't help when many fans hated Adric.

Oh, right, my sister keeps watching the reruns and I tell her not to because she's going to run into spoilers..

Haha, I guess their plan worked if you didn't notice! They do it again, though? That's not cool..

Yeah, I liked it, too. Nearly everyone they interviewed, though, people that worked on the show, said they didn't like it. There's not much else they could have done, though.

Well, not Jeannie's husband, but with two other characters that I remember off the top of my head. In fact, one of them had three different actors, if I remember right.

Regarding the end of that episode, maybe people wanted the music so the episode wasn't so depressing, like RTD threw in that bride at the end of "Doomsday".

Oh, that's awful! I hope they were really minor characters :x

Do you watch the current series, or have you given up on it?

Oh, by the way, Kerry Weaver's still on the show, right? I like her, but whenever she's on my mom and my sister are all "omg h8."

The bride totally threw me off. I see what they were doing, but it didn't work for me since it was just 30 seconds of "huh?" and then back to depressing.

I've tried to watch the current season, but it's hard. It's just not the same. I'm up to date on what's happening though.

See, I'm a bit heartless when it comes to "Doomsday" because it really didn't depress me. I was more affected by the promo for "Army of Ghosts" than the actual finale. I don't know what it was. I cried, but it wasn't really because I was feeling it. I try, but it just doesn't work for me.

From: [identity profile] romanticizing.livejournal.com
Ah, I see. Yeah, one of my friends half-watches it, and she says they've thrown in all this crazy melodramatic stuff now.

Yeah, I'm the opposite of you for Doomsday then, ha. Because the whole season (except for a few bits) I was annoyed with Rose and was just waiting for her to leave, and then with Doomsday I succumbed to all the drama and was sad. I guess part of that was sadness for season one Rose, too, though.

Date: 2006-09-01 08:04 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] meganlynn09.livejournal.com
Oh don't get me wrong, I will miss Rose (of season 1) and was extremely sad and did cry because OMG the drama! It was terribly sad. But I wasn't affected like the shippers were, which made me feel awkward. I think I mourned the loss of Nine/Rose more than Ten/Rose. Nine/Rose seemed to have that epic thing about them (please forgive that, I just watched an episode of another show of mine where someone described his relationship with a girl as epic and it was romantic and it sort of kept with me and it sort of fits here). There was something about Ten/Rose that rubbed me the wrong way, along with how they wrote Rose in season 2.

Also? The millions and billions of Doomsday wallpapers? Really annoying. Please to be ignoring my bitching. :)

Date: 2006-09-01 08:10 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] romanticizing.livejournal.com
Oh, yeah, I agree with that. I got Nine/Rose, didn't really feel Ten/Rose until Doomsday, weirdly enough. I think the regeneration caused me all sorts of problems. The two seasons have such a different feel than the other. And season two seems kind of jumbled whereas season one fits for me. I just can't really understand what they were doing with season two.

HAHA, I had a Doomsday wallpaper! For a day! And then I woke up the next morning and laughed at myself and deleted it forever, hahaha. It does make pretty wallpapers, though. Just the coloring and stuff.

I sort of felt for Ten/Rose, but it was too little, too late. I don't know many who can figure out the goal of season 2, but some people considered it "high standard" and I wonder what they were watching. But, that's just me.

Some of the wallpapers are nice, I just don't need to see 100 of them in one day. :/

Date: 2006-09-01 08:34 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] romanticizing.livejournal.com
I think "too little, too late" sums it up well. It's so frustrating, though, to see all these comments like, "Yeah, the series really took off for me with Ten" or "Oh, Nine was just clingy blah blah." Because I am annoyed with people knocking Nine.

Another thing is, I think it's really interesting how there's this group of old school fans, and then a lot of people who are drawn to the show now are very different and like the show for totally different reasons. There's some overlap, but sometimes it seems like two separate fandoms.

Haha, it's definitely been like 100 wallpapers a day since Doomsday aired, I think.

Date: 2006-09-02 12:49 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] meganlynn09.livejournal.com
I could go into a whole rant on how Nine was not clingy and give me actual proof that he was. It's a very sore spot after season 2 and seeing the clingy-ness of Ten/Rose.

Grr..I hate things that frustrate me!

So...um...yeah.
