Does anyone on my flist know the Rock Hudson movie "Man's Favorite Sport"? I just made icons from the movie, and I feel like a dork because who's gonna want them?

Date: 2006-09-20 03:52 am (UTC)Classic Hollywood isn't dead! Yeah!
I worked with several people, all older than you, who didn't know who several movie stars were from Hudson's era-- including Grace Kelly-- and I just about fell over.
Good God, if there's an interest out there, maybe I should do some icons of Rod Taylor. And if you don't know who he is, you'll fall in love with him the minute you do. :)

Date: 2006-09-20 04:05 am (UTC)I love and adore Rock Hudson almost as much as Cary Grant! Oh, that reminds me, we have some of his DVDs, I'll have to icon his movies too.
I remember being vaguely horrified to find out people my own age didn't know someone like Cary Grant, Rock or even Doris Day.
And I must know who this Rod Taylor is.

Have you ever seen The 39 Steps with Robert Donat, or Sabatour with Robert Cummings? These actors were fantastic as well, and these movies are awesome.

And I haven't heard about those movies you named, or the actors which surprises me since both my parents watch the older movies.

Date: 2006-09-20 03:54 pm (UTC)Both movies are Hitchcock films. One (The 39 Steps) is ages old (c.1935) and the other (Saboteur) was WWII era. They're virtually the same movie, with the exception of Sabteur having one of those typical Hitchcock nail biting endings that takes place on the Statue of Liberty - It's sort of Xmen before Xmen :)
The 39 Steps may be hard to come by in a rental place, and for that matter Sabatour as well. I picked up a copy of the first at Best Buy for I think 4 bucks about 10 years ago. Probably get it for $1 now. So sad the classic are now bargin basement finds.
