Nabbed from
house_kitten. Supposed to do this for 5 fandoms, let's see if I can do it! Small season 2 spoilers for DW and BSG. And some questionable language.
Okay, so it's only three, but that's all I want to do at the moment! Oh, and if you would like me to expand on any of my answers, let me know, thanks!
P.S.
Why the hell is season one of Doctor Who so freakin' expensive on DVD?
1. The first character I fell in love with
Ninth Doctor. Seriously, it didn't happen until "The Empty Child" (don't ask), but when I fell, I fell hard. Probably still a dent on my floor from that.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now
Mickey. Who would have known that I would be so proud of him when he took charge of his life the way he did in "Age of Steel"? Or been so happy that he lived through "Doomsday"? Love him.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't
Um...Ten? I don't have the love for him that many others seem to. Doesn't mean I hate him, pretty far from that, I just really don't love him.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates
Would Jackie count for this? She's just such a mother, and being close to my own mom, I have to appreciate her for wanting her daughter safe, whether on Earth or not. She earned major brownie points for her speech in "Love & Monsters".
5. The character I would shag anytime
Nine. And if he's too busy saving the world, Captain Jack.
6. The character I'd want to be like
I really wouldn't want to be like any of these characters, but I'd really love to be a companion and travel with the Doctor.
7. The character I'd slap
Season 2 Rose.
8. A pairing that I love
Nine/Rose. Romantic or otherwise, I loved it.
9. A pairing that I despise
There's no pairing that I hate, but Jack/Rose sort of rubs me the wrong way. I think because their flirting in "The Empty Child" just seemed so forced. I don't know.
10. Favorite character
Do you really have to guess on that one? Nine fucking owns me, always will.

1. The first character I fell in love with
Lee Adama/Apollo. I have no idea how, because my first episode was "Act of Contrition" and he wasn't his nicest there. But after "You Can't Go Home Again"?, he owned my heart on that show.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now
Chief. Don't know what it is about him, but at first, I really didn't care. Now, it's like, dude, he better fucking live.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't
Kara Thrace/Starbuck. I don't hate her, but I certainly don't love her. Season 2 sort of ruined her for me.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates
Laura Roslin seems to be getting some hate, but I still love her.
5. The character I would shag anytime
Lee. Have you seem that body of his? Watch "Final Cut" from the first part of season 2, really. He's hot. Until they put him in that damn fat suit.
6. The character I'd want to be like
OMG, none because I would shoot myself if I were in their positions.
7. The character I'd slap
Dualla. Not because I hate her but because she should have juggled her relationships better. And yet, I can't fully blame her, it's just sloppy writing.
8. A pairing that I love
I'm easy, Kara/Lee. Friendship, romantic, whatever, they have this uniquely interesting relationship and I want to see as much of it as I can.
9. A pairing that I despise
Tough one. I'm always willing to give pairings on this show a chance, but for some really odd reason, I can't stand Kara/Anders.
10. Favorite character
This is a really a redundant question. Lee.

1. The first character I fell in love with
John Sheppard. Something about him.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now
Carson Beckett. Seriously. When I saw "Letters from Pegasus", and he had that hard time saying a message for his mom? Aw, just wanted to give him a big ol' hug.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't
I don't have that much love for Rodney McKay. I like him a lot, but "McKay and Mrs. Miller"? Not the best episode ever!
4. The character I love that everyone else hates
I think Elizabeth Weir is the least liked, and I just love her. She's so awesome, and tough, even though she's not a fighter.
5. The character I would shag anytime
Probably John.
6. The character I'd want to be like
Elizabeth. She just has this strength that I so admire and she's so strong and she's the boss.
7. The character I'd slap
None that I know of. Except I'd love to bitch slap the Wraith.
8. A pairing that I love
John/Elizabeth. They have something...and it's amazing.
9. A pairing that I despise
I don't hate any pairing, but I'm not fond of John/Teyla at all.
10. Favorite character
Elizabeth, definitely.

Date: 2006-09-25 08:02 pm (UTC)Since you're my only LJ friend who does BSG, I'll give my answers here, and they will be very different from yours (which is kind of interesting, given how close we are on DW!)
1. The first character I fell in love with
Hmmm. Probably William Adama, but that's partially because I have always loved Edward James Olmos. But Baltar knocked my socks off.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now
Six. Not love in the sense of like, but a really fascinating character, and damn! what a performance from an inexperienced lingerie model.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't
Hmmm. I don't know that I have one. I'll admit that many of the men (particularly the pretty boys) don't do much for me. And Billy was kind of meh. Perhaps it's this: Although I like the character of Leoben as written, I am very disappointed when he's onscreen. Callum Keith Rennie, IMO, is one of the worst actors apparently able to get work on a consistent basis - he has no range and no charisma, so I find him a real weak link in any scene he's in. At least David Tennant has spark.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates
Laura Roslin seems to be getting some hate, but I still love her.
Really? 'Cause I love Laura Roslin.
5. The character I would shag anytime
::shame:: Baltar. He's funny, he's smart, he has beautiful eyes. Okay, so he's crazy and self-involved (I think self-involved is more the point than out-and-out evil), but I think he'd be fun. /shame
6. The character I'd want to be like
That's a hard one. I am probably most like Laura Roslin; I've had surprising empathy for Boomer, but that's not the same thing. None of them are actually shining examples.
7. The character I'd slap
Dualla. Not because I hate her but because she should have juggled her relationships better. And yet, I can't fully blame her, it's just sloppy writing.
That's a very good point. For me, it would probably be Baltar, because of the above-mentioned self-involvement.
8. A pairing that I love
I have two, very different: Bill/Laura ('cause love isn't just for the young, but also for those who are amazing actors!); and Baltar/Six (because it's one of the most fascinating combinations in fiction).
9. A pairing that I despise
Hmmm. I don't despise any of them, but I admit, I haven't been convinced by Starbuck with anyone so far - although occasionally, her interactions with William Adama have made me wonder if Zak and Lee were stand-ins. That's lessened in the later season, but there were some pretty intense interactions in the first one.
10. Favorite character
That's a good question. It may actually be the combination of Baltar/Six, because is she really there? It could be all him.

Date: 2006-09-25 08:26 pm (UTC)James Callis has done wonderfully with Baltar, and I do find that I like him.
(I think self-involved is more the point than out-and-out evil)
Yeah, that's pretty much it, isn't it? He's not evil, he's just selfish.
damn! what a performance from an inexperienced lingerie model.
Oh I know! I think it really hit me in the first half of season 2, "Pegasus", when she was on that ship and first saw one of her own models beat, the anger Tricia Helfer displayed was amazing, she was literally shaking and if looks could kill...
And I so agree on Baltar/Six, Adama/Roslin. I can't believe I didn't even mention them!

Date: 2006-09-25 11:55 pm (UTC)I think sometimes with these big, complex, ensemble shows, you can get suckered into watching/thinking about a few characters and forget/miss other things that you actually do enjoy, but just can't keep in your head.
He's not evil, he's just selfish.
Yes, and I think what's brilliant about him is that he's not amoral - he knows what he's doing wrong, and in fact, I think that's what's driving him crazy. His fear for his personal safety and his guilt are tearing him apart.
Tricia Helfer was a lingerie model and married to some studio executive - she could have been sooooo bad, but in fact, she's turned out to be absolutely brilliant. If I didn't think they'd cut each other on their cheekbones or make fire because they're like two sticks (she's really much too thin), I'd love to see her with CE. I have a feeling their acting styles would mesh really well.
And I love Adama/Roslin - and even Tigh and his wife - for showing that sexuality isn't confined to the young folks. I see you know these (). This icon kills me for the detail and the double entendre - it's funny, and it's sweet.

Date: 2006-09-26 02:19 am (UTC)Oh she is, and then she had to lose weight to play one of the models of Six, the one on Pegasus. Plus, I believe she wore a wig in part 2 of season 2, and we only saw her real hair on Gina.
But I too would love to see her work with CE. One actress from the small screen that I would die to see work with CE would be Lauren Graham. I think she and CE would work brillantly together.
And I love Adama/Roslin - and even Tigh and his wife
Me too, because, especially with Tigh and Ellen, is that their relationship is so real. Truly seen in season 2, Tigh and his wife's relationship intrigued me because it's not this ideal marriage and yet, they still really love each other.
I see you know these.
Oh, that links to my journal.

Date: 2006-09-30 04:19 pm (UTC)I never rule anything out, working with CE. I will admit that Lauren Graham is just one of those people that rubs me the wrong way (I just can't watch Gilmore Girls), but you never know!
Tigh and Ellen, is that their relationship is so real.
I totally agree. I think Tigh in particular is a fascinating, very real character, and the actor is stunningly good. I also loved the whole little dance going on with Starbuck at one point. I think Katee Sackhoff really brings it (or did) with him and EJO, and it's probably that thing of rising to the challenge of the great actor. But it also, to me, came out in terms of chemistry.
Oops! I don't know what happened with the link...but it's to the

Date: 2006-09-30 05:03 pm (UTC)Right now, I'm trying to envision Goran Visnjic and CE working together.
I think Tigh in particular is a fascinating, very real character, and the actor is stunningly good.
Yes, major props to the actor. He never made me hate Tigh, he made me dislike the things he was doing, but I always held a bit of sympathy for Tigh, I've always liked him, mostly because of his loyalty.
Yeah, I'd seen those comics. They're good.

Date: 2006-09-30 05:47 pm (UTC)I'm only half-(maybe 1/4-)kidding when I wonder if the screen would be able to hold that much...well, beauty, I guess is the term, in one frame. GV is prettier, but CE is more charismatic (and, honestly, a much more versatile actor), but I'm already imagining a WWI era spy-soldier drama about a Brit and a Serbo-Croatian with a great deal of violence, PTSD, and an unavoidable, unmistakeable homoerotic subtext...and I think it would be fabulous.

Date: 2006-09-26 02:21 am (UTC)I know! I was mentioning to my dad how I would love to have DW on DVD, and it sounded like he knew that before, but the price just isn't worth it, as much as that pains me. But that's okay, I'm probably getting Veronica Mars season 1 on DVD. I'm so glad, that like you, I have the copies of S1.
