Summary: Lee and Kara have a long way to go.
Author's Note:  Okay.  This is going to seem out of nowhere, but I'm
making up a woman from Lee's past.  I know, it's already been done.
I'm going to make it seem like it is true.  Trust me?  Also, this is
the first time that I am starting a fic without an end in sight.  So,
I don't know where this is going.

Starts after Scar.

She was sitting in the empty room alone when he found her.
The celebration had been over for the past hour.  Although what they
had been celebrating, he still didn't know.  She was on the floor,
with an empty glass.  He thought it was alcohol.  She looked up at
him with a sad smile before waving her arm out, as if to invite him
into her home.  He sat in front of her.

"You okay Kara?"  He hated that she made him care so much
about her.  He knew she hated it when he cared too much.  They had
that in common.

"Why are you asking me that?  Why do you still care?"
Instead of sounding upset, she sounded angry.  Very angry.  Like she
honestly couldn't comprehend why he would be nice to her.  Like she
wanted him to leave her alone.

He sighed before he answered.  He didn't have any other
answer.  Exhausted, he said, "Because I'm your friend Kara."

She heard his tone and couldn't look him in the eye.  "Why
are you here?"

"I was thinking.  The names of all the dead.  Anders.  It
made me think."

"I don't understand."

"Losing Anders, having to break your promise to him, it was
almost like losing Zak again, wasn't it?  Different, but you still
blame yourself in both instances."

She glared at him.  Gritting her teeth, she spat back, "Just
what the frak is your point?"

"You can't forget.  And while it's hard to remember, it's
worse not to.  There had been a girl in my life that I forgot.  She
was everything to me, and I hadn't thought about her for over a year
now.  It kills me that you can remember all those things, and I
didn't remember someone that I was going to spend the rest of my life
with."

She stared at him, shocked.  "Are you talking about that
girl, Gianne?"

This time, Lee looked at her in shock.  He forgot about
telling her about his relationship with Gianne during the days after
the Cylon attack.  In those days, they needed something to keep
themselves together.  Lee and Kara had kept themselves occupied by
sharing stories of the last two years.  He told her all about his
year and a half relationship.

"No.  Her name was Lillian.  She died five years before the
Cylons attacked.  Not too long before you met Zak and I."

"Oh."

They sat there in silence.  Kara absorbed the fact that she
still had Lee as a friend.  She looked at him, and realized how
special he was.  It took a strong man to be rejected and still care.
She started to reach for his hand.  He seemed to know what she was
doing because he moved his hand a little.  It moved out of her
reach.  She looked at his face, but his eyes were closed.  It still
hurt.

"Lee?  Where do we go from here?"  Barely whispered, she
wouldn't have been surprised if he didn't hear.

"That's the problem Kara.  We can't go anywhere."

Argh...so angsty and sad.

They even have issues about caring for each other.

I'm hoping you have a positive spin for this, that Lee and Kara can help each other get over their pasts and see what's in front of them.

I like to be optimistic, but the straight angst catagory has me nervous :)

This is nicely done and I'm looking forward to the rest of the story :)

Thanks! And the story will not be pure angst, that was just for this chapter. I'm glad you liked!
