And the boringness attacks!
No seriously, very boring day so far. But then, there's a new Torchwood tonight, and beyond anything, there better be that new SGA tomorrow as promised. I don't fancy waiting for March.
Also, what's with the badfic(Doctor Who) floating around? It seems to have multiplied. I just read something the other day that made me want to vomit because of the content. Not sexual or violent, just the interpretation they saw in the relationships...wow. It was something I'd not seen in...ever.
And I believe we have a little more confirmation on Chris Eccleston's new TV role, as I've heard it was mentioned in Entertainment Weekly? I'm still searching for more info, and I'm getting so zealous that I'm about to dive head first into the fandom of the show.
Although, I'm not really sure I want him playing a character with the name of Claude. I can't take anyone with that name seriously.
Should I join this fandom or not? I was very much enjoying the show before I found the casting news, so is it worth it now?
And holy hell, I really didn't know so many knew of CE and are ecstatic that he'll be on. That makes me so gleeful!
Please remind me, though, to stay AWAY from the TWoP boards!
And THANK YOU to those who left such awesome words on the love meme or whatever over at
I forgot to say some things about BSG from Friday.
And yay for Tigh for getting out of his room. They're still taking it slow with him, but that's okay. I don't want them to rush his story. He was shattered way too much to pick up the way Kara should be able too.
Am I the only one dreading the next episode? I mean, yay for Lee/Kara, but I'm just so disappointed that the only storyline they seem able to give Lee anymore is with Kara and Adama. Come on RDM, I know Kara is so special to you or what the fuck ever, but give Lee some attention here. You gave him a great arc in season one, first half of season two and then you fucked him up.
Get your head out of your ass and realize that not everyone is interested in Kara's fucked-up life. Just, I'm more interested in her this year, but come on.
Also? The Kara/Anders, Lee/Dee, Lee/Kara thing? Work it better. I've never been fond of Kara/Anders, their relationship makes me want to vomit sometimes, I don't know why, I should like it, but I never have, and probably never will. I'm sick of all the bitching about Lee/Dee and I just wish they would press the real reset button and go back to how everything was back in episodes like "Final Cut" and "Flight of the Phoenix" or whatever it was called.
Alright, I'm done, sorry.
That's all I got.
Hee, the spellcheck on this thing is funny. Eccleston is wrong, and one of the suggestions is Gallstones.

Date: 2006-11-19 09:11 pm (UTC)Wait...what about new SGA? Obviously, I haven't been looking very hard. New eps from the second half already? *is psyched*

Date: 2006-11-19 09:30 pm (UTC)You read EW? Could you tell me what the article said? *puppy eyes*
A Canadian station is playing the second half of SGA, and that starts tomorrow, if the schedule's to be believed.

Date: 2006-11-19 09:59 pm (UTC)Yeah, sure. I dunno the exact wording but the column started talking about Heroes' success, then saying how it would be getting more due to CE (they talked a bit about his run as 9) coming in Jan. in a top-secret role. They said nothing about what his role would be (damn it) but it sounded like it was a pretty serious thing and that he would be joining, not just guesting on one ep. But with EW, sometimes it's just speculation. But either way, I'm totally excited.
Seriously? Oh, I hope people put it up for us poor, deprived Americans. Does that mean the last 10 eps of SG-1 are playing, too?

Me too! And I've, unfortunately, have read nothing about SG-1. No schedule for new episodes for that one.

Date: 2006-11-19 11:29 pm (UTC)Anyway, I'd like to participate to the whole cool anonymous comments thing but I'm afraid I'm stupid and I didn't understand how the whole thing worked. Is stupid. *feels stupid*

It took me a whole day to figure out the meme myself! Anyway, I a link to it on my journal, a recent entry. What you do, go to that entry on the journal that started it, leave a comment, but just put your LJ name. Then link to that thread you started (by commenting with your name) on a post on your own journal. I don't know if that made any sense. I just followed what a couple people on my own flist did. :)

On my way to do it.

Date: 2006-11-20 12:19 am (UTC)Holiday lull? Midterms? I don't know, but I've noticed it, too.
I just read something the other day that made me want to vomit because of the content. Not sexual or violent, just the interpretation they saw in the relationships...wow. It was something I'd not seen in...ever.
Now, of course, I'm curious. Although I know of at least one story where I loved the first chapter, and it's been a gradual descent into romantic drivel which saddens me. I tried to read a Rose/Ten by an author I generally like, and had to just stop. I simply cannot see that relationship as being remotely healthy. Sad to say, I think Nine, with all his damage, was more honest with her. Ten isn't more dangerous physically or intellectually, but he definitely is, emotionally.
Eccleston is wrong, and one of the suggestions is Gallstones.
Ha! Or ecclesiastical? Which is at least the same root word.
I'm about 90% sure he's not playing Sylar(the really really bad guy). And that makes me very happy.
Me, too, but I like the way the "insider" phrased it, that "Chris would make a fantastic bad guy." Why, yes, he would. So that's why I don't think they'll do it. Notable aside: while looking on EW.com, I ran across a 10-year-old EW article on up-and-coming British actors (Jonny Lee Miller? he's so over... but the rest are still marching on), but under Eccleston, it said: "Physically frail but emotionally intense. Could be a psycho or a suffering saint." Well! Other than "physically frail", which I don't get, pretty much bang on.
Although, I'm not really sure I want him playing a character with the name of Claude. I can't take anyone with that name seriously.
I think I can deal if he's that part, because it sounds (literally) like it was written for him: intense, wise, mentorish, gruff, lovable. Tick, tick, and tick. Just, please, no more with the teenaged girls! He has scary chemistry with teenaged girls, and I don't want to go there in an American context. We'd never have had the lovely Drew-Sahira (note, a hyphen, not a slash) relationship in Hearts and Minds on American telly.

Date: 2006-11-20 02:59 am (UTC)I have no idea what you'll think of it, and because I'm doing this, I'm friends-locking this entry. I don't know if my problems come through in the fic, but let me know!
Here: http://emmy-bemmy.livejournal.com/20410.html
I, too, have trouble reading Ten/Rose. It just does not work for me!
Other than "physically frail"
I suppose that's their way of saying "not fit"? He never struck me as "frail".
intense, wise, mentorish, gruff, lovable.
If that's his character, than I'm already in love!

Date: 2006-11-20 03:15 am (UTC)I do think Jack gets off on the Doctor being more powerful than he is, but not in that way.
I, too, have trouble reading Ten/Rose. It just does not work for me!
And the way it's written usually doesn't help. It becomes all about how cute and charming and young and "healed" he is, and errr...
I suppose that's their way of saying "not fit"? He never struck me as "frail".
No, he's never made me think "frail", even when he was playing an AIDS patient, or Jude. He looks incredibly thin in I Am Dina, but then he takes his clothes off (of course), and he's not skinny. There are muscles, just lean and wiry.

Date: 2006-11-20 03:22 am (UTC)Yeah, it's usually the way Ten/Rose is written that bugs me. Some fic I've read it great, and that's because I see the actually Ten and then I get irked 'cause I don't like it.
but then he takes his clothes off (of course)
So pretty much in every movie or whatever he's done, he's either naked or dies, or both? Doctor Who and Heroes seems like the most close to "normal" he's ever done!

Date: 2006-11-20 03:47 am (UTC)Yeah, I was going with it until that point.
I had just thought of all the stupid daddy issues that RTD has let come on DW and TW.
It got pretty bad in S2 of DW. I loved Father's Day, and I thought that was not only perfectly acceptable but beautifully done, for all its cliché - in fact, it was a fabulous exploration of genre. But I really didn't like Pete coming back in S2, as much as I loved him. That happy families ending was actually kinda squicky.
it's usually the way Ten/Rose is written that bugs me. Some fic I've read it great, and that's because I see the actually Ten and then I get irked 'cause I don't like it.
Yep. Most Ten/Rose that I've tried has been so saccharine-sweet I couldn't stand to finish it. I've got a similar problem in another fandom - either the fanfic is written in a way that works on its own terms, but I don't recognize the characters from the show, so...what's the point? Or they write the characters in a recognizable way, and then it's not believable to me, and in fact, I find the relationship deeply unpleasant. It's a lose/lose situation.
So pretty much in every movie or whatever he's done, he's either naked or dies, or both?
Pretty much. I'd say the majority are "both".
Doctor Who and Heroes seems like the most close to "normal" he's ever done!
Sort of, yeah.

Pretty much.
I'm so excited at the thought of CE being on Heroes, that I'm going to be majorly crushed if it's false. But then I just think, but how would CE's name get in the mix? He's not that commonly known in the US!

Date: 2006-11-20 04:38 am (UTC)I know what you mean on the Lee stories. Although, there is the fact that they seem to have forgotten that he was a commander and had his own ship and lost that, they could deal with the fact that he's a pilot again but dipping into the marines, and maybe connect a relationship with Roslin again. I don't know. I just don't like his whole life on the show being centered around Kara. Sorry, Lee was my favorite character and I hate that they have no idea what to do with him.
And you're right, they do not need more in the way of their(Kara/Lee) relationship. It's fucked up enough!
Come there was so much for them to work with. They took the easy way out.
And yet they have time to plan out Cylon three-ways!

Date: 2006-11-20 07:36 am (UTC)I don't think the name works for CE either. I don't have anything against it (there's a lot of people named Claude here, so I'm kinda used to it), but it's my brother-in-law's name and... no. Just no.
Anyway, I just hope CE's not Sylar. I'm sure he'd be excellent, but I want to see him play a good guy...

Date: 2006-11-20 03:52 pm (UTC)Claude just makes me giggle, probably inappropriately. So if that is his character, he's hoping they don't address him by name often.
Well, I heard the actor playing Sylar has been named and that he played him in the latest episode, even though we really didn't see his face, so that's what's made me pretty positive CE's not Sylar. Although I'm sure he'd make an excellant bad guy, there's just no way I could root for him!
