How do I make a file smaller? Like how can I take something that's 350mb and make it something like 150 or 200mb?

Also, new SGA icons up at my graphics comm, [livejournal.com profile] inconceivable_m.

SPOILERS for newer episodes, plus there are two headers that I made, up for grabs (John/Elizabeth).

Is it a really large image that you're trying to reduce in Mb size? I'll assume so and go forth:

Generally, you can use an optimization tool when you go to save a file (resave). For instance in Paint Shop Pro click "Save As" and then look for a "File Options" or "Optimization" button-- once you get it opened up you'll be offered, in some programs, a wizard to optimize an image for you, or you can manually adjust the image optimazation for either high quality (compression), which equals a larger file size, or a lower quality (compression) with lower quality.

My Fisher-Price response, because if I dare open up my PSP program right now the computer my violently react. Hope this puts you on the right track.

Actually, it's not an image. I wanted to upload some things for people to download, in the holiday spirit!, and didn't want to limit it with only having large versions.

I might just have to bite the bullet, and maybe wait a few days after Christmas to offer the downloads because it'll be so much better if I did it off my own computer.

Sorry, misunderstood.

If you have the ability you could always burn a disk and send via media mail.

WinZip in my experience doesn't compress well enough on large stuff.

Maybe you could create a bit torrent file for them to download.

Just throwing out ideas. :)

When I post my offer, I'm going to see how willing people are to download WinRAR. Then I can split them in half or thirds or more.

That's an excellent idea; I've never had a problem with using that program.
