Yay, I watched the latest Torchwood episode "Combat". It was good, and gets major bonus points for being written by Noel Clarke. But I found my attention wavering quite a bit. My eyes wandered...Anyway, I just have two or three things to note upon.
First, the scene with Gwen alone in the Hub with the pizza, crying? Most realistic scene I've seen in the series, and on TV in a long while. I won't go into details as to why I found it realistic, but it really was and it hurt to watch.
As did watching Rhys literally just break under every excuse Gwen has given about her job.
But was I the only one to find it weird that Jack was completely silent when Rhys was going all "SIT THE FUCK DOWN WOMAN!"? And all he had to say was "I'm sorry for interrupting"?
We the audience know why Rhys was like that, even if it was inexcusable and disturbing to see, but Jack doesn't. He thinks her home life has been going great and Gwen is always talking about him and going on about him and their life and the first time he meets Rhys, he's fucking insane? That didn't worry Jack at all?
I mean yeah, Gwen can handle herself and she obviously doesn't take any shit from Rhys, we've seen that before in "Ghost Machine", and Jack knows that, but after seeing that display, if I were Jack, I'd start to think she was in denial. But instead, he encourages Gwen to fix it.
Just seemed odd to me.
And call me a dumb blonde, but could someone explain the last scene with Owen and the Weevils to me?
P.S. MORE TOSH. PLEASE. NEXT WEEK, YEAH? MORE TOSH/JACK WHILE YOU'RE AT IT AS WELL. Sweet.
