Just some of my babblings on TV from this past week. Suffice to say, SPOILERS for the following shows.
Cold Case
I tried to watch an episode of this show a while ago, because it guest-starred Katee Sackoff, I didn't really watch more than 20 minutes though. But this one I was more determined to watch because it had Jamie Bamber. Goodness how I love that man.
Is the show usually more subtle? Because it was quite predictable, my recording cut off 3/4 of the way through, and I had no trouble identifying the murderer. And again, the show was not subtle in the least. And sort of boring.
Veronica Mars
I accidently spoiled myself on one thing that happened, but it's still surprising. I'm not in the fandom nor do I read spoilers, so I had no inkling that Lamb would be killed.
Although, I am baffled by people's love for Lamb, he's always rubbed me the wrong way, and he was never getting back in my good graces after laughing off Veronica's rape.
On the whole, I'm liking this season, it's enjoyable, more contained than S2, but it's never gonna get back the feel from S1.
Lost
I will stick around as long as I get to see Jack and Juliet's coupling. Seriously. Sawyer can die now, Kate can pine/cry/what-thefuck-ever in her corner and I hardly care about anyone else anymore...So, let's make it the Jack and Juliet show. Thanks.
Funny? My dad's still squicked that Kate and Sawyer had sex. Heh.
The Office
I just starting watching the show this season and I don't know why it took me this long to get into it!
I also wish I had been into it sooner so I would have a better judgement as to whether or not Roy's reaction was in-character, although I've heard it was. It took me completely by surprised, but it seems like maybe the writers just wanted to totally kill off this pairing because really? Only knowing Pam for this season, I know she won't go back.
So, when are Jim and Pam getting together?
Also? I think I may be in love with Joss Whedon and J.J. Abrams. Because...I wasn't already.
Grey's Anatomy
I in no way cried while watching this episode. No really, I didn't. Ahem.
This wasn't my favorite, I would have to say last week's was one of the best, if they had cut out the ending. I didn't like that crossing over bit or whatever, it was...it seemed cheap to me.
And...is it okay that I don't like Izzie? In fact, she's never been anyway near the top of my list and she may be below Meredith right now. George has every right to be mad at her, and really? In regards to their friendship and the things she's said, I've no sympathy towards her there. But...I love Denny, he's such a romantic. And that part was pretty well done, if overly sentimental.
May I say how much I love Addison? Seriously? I just absolutely loved her for being the one to say that they needed to prepare themselves to the interns but turned around and basically told Derek to keep his hope alive. She's so awesome.
I'm a bit eh though on her and Mark though.
30 Rock
Tell me people on my flist watch this show?! I love it, I find it ridiculously funny, smart and yet stupid at the same time. Alec Baldwin is gold.
And Jenna confusing Barack Obama with Osama Bin Laden? So cheap and soooooo hilarious. Especially because she thought she got in a burn.
Ghost Whisperer
Never watched it and never will again. Jamie Bamber wasn't enough to save that hour of TV. 25% or more was my personal problems with what the show presented, but the other percentage? Just crap.
Don't get me started on the music.
Do better next time Jamie, please, that's twice in one week man. THINK OF YOUR CHILDREN. For some reason.
Heroes
Yes, I'm still way beyond excited for Monday's episode. HEH. I really am one of the few that really likes H.R.G., aren't I? Besides
angdelia, she's with me.
Right?
And randomly, I'm amused by how my dad surprises me sometimes. He's pays more attention then I think he does, and then he proves me right.
Like today. This morning, he turned it to Sci-Fi where some hilariously stupid sci-fi movie was on with David Hewlett. And my dad was like "This has Dr. McKay in it", just by the actor's name. I was impressed with this because he's crap at TV actors name, although I shouldn't have been so surprised, he recognizes Torri's name. Now I'm just making myself look bad.
And the second part? This afternoon, a local station that has SGA repeats had on "The Long Goodbye", and he's like "I've never seen this one", and in fact repeated that to me several times. And expressed surprise at every turn. And seemed to have liked the kiss that happened. (My dad a secret Sheppard/Weir shipper? Weird, I don't talk to him about any of that stuff, so it's not my fault, and he really doesn't like pairings on shows.) It could have been he was just surprised.
Then again, he was totally cracking up at the end when they got called on the kiss.

Date: 2007-02-25 01:22 am (UTC)Heh, know I can know exactly what you're feeling when you put on another SGA rant!
I told you he was a secret sparky shipper.
I just can't believe it, when we watched "Conversion" he didn't say anything or even make a sound, when I asked him if he saw the kiss in "The Long Goodbye" he was like "Oh, yeah", and then totally amused at the end at how embarrassed they were. His jaw probably dropped.

Date: 2007-02-24 11:58 pm (UTC)As for HRG, there are lots of fans on TWOP, at least! I think he's an interesting character, but I'm not sure I really like him. I don't know that there's any justification for what he's done to his wife - when she's coherent, she seems like a smart, caring woman and he's reduced her to mush. I also have to admit that the last couple of episodes, Jack Coleman's "emoting" didn't come across too well for me...)
So, yes, that was Claude sitting behind HRG in the flashback - I thought so. Claude was looking like the Sherry twins there (the twins CE played on Linda Green, who had long hair that kept falling in their faces - I wonder if that's an intentional parallel to Peter! I hope for nice, juicy backstory that will at least keep Claude alive in fanfic until CE comes back. The way Tim Kring is playing this, he just might - it would be like a safe bolthole between bigger gigs, and it's doing amazing things for his profile. Every major entertainment publication has given him a shoutout in the last couple of weeks!
How's your Mom faring?

Date: 2007-02-25 01:30 am (UTC)Heh, I have residual Jack love from S1, it just won't go away. And I love the Juliet/Jack interaction.
Where are Locke and Hurley and Jin and Sun, not to mention Bernard and Rose and Walt and Michael!
Oh I know! I enjoyed Bernard and Rose, and I always liked Jin and Sun episodes. But to be fair, Walt and Michael were allowed to escape on a boat. :)
I don't know that there's any justification for what he's done to his wife - when she's coherent, she seems like a smart, caring woman and he's reduced her to mush.
Yes, I think he deeply loves his family, but he doesn't hesitate to do his job, which isn't the best thing. I hope that changes soon because I don't want him pegged completely as the bad guy, it seems unfair.
Jack Coleman's "emoting" didn't come across too well for me..
EE, I'd have to agree with that!
I am just blowing myself away with how much I'm anticipating Monday's episode. And it's just absolutely amazing how much attention CE's getting through this, makes me happy and hopeful that we'll get to see more of him on American TV.
My mom's doing really well! She's going up and down the stairs once a day, taking nice, long walks. She'll have a private nurse coming over for a while, but it doesn't look like they'll be any complications. :)

Date: 2007-02-25 02:00 am (UTC)Nothing wrong with that! I don't think I have very strong feelings for Jack either way, but I do think he works well with Elizabeth Mitchell. Then she tends to work well with everybody!
Bernard and Rose are my Lost OTP. Although Jin and Sun are so beautiful it almost hurts to watch them.
I like the ambiguity in HRG, but I can't unconditionally love him, because of the whole Sandra thing. But Jack Coleman goes in that category of "actors who should not shout to portray intensity".
Great news on your Mom - that's fantastic. I had no idea she'd even be allowed to be up that soon. Going up and down stairs is no mean feat!

Date: 2007-02-25 02:44 am (UTC)I don't exactly love HRG, but I like that they're trying to write someone who's not exactly the best person and not exactly an evil person. I see what he's doing and I don't like it, but I totally see why Claire's just losing it with him.
I have to admit that it panicked me a little to have my mom come home so soon because it'll just be me and her during the weekdays. But I can see now the only thing I'll be worrying about is whether or not I'll survive being in the house with my mother. Thank God we're already close.

Date: 2007-02-25 02:59 am (UTC)Oh, I very much agree. I love the idea of him. And I think it will be nicely, realistically hurtful when Claire rejects him for her fairytale "real Dad" (only to discover he can be a mighty jerk as well). Have you noticed that Claire looks more like her adoptive parents than her biological parents? I still think Meredith+Claude seems the most likely genetic background for Claire (they're the only offered couple that has recessive+recessive genes in terms of blond(ish) hair and blue/grey eyes), but they're willfully ignoring that in a plot about genetics. Ah, well.
Actually, a lot of the characters have their flaws (Claire's not even exactly an angel), but HRG and Claude are two standout examples. I was reading some episode reviews today from

Date: 2007-02-25 03:09 am (UTC)Eh, you make a good point, it's all about genetics and they ignore they're own casting. :)
Hmm...I can see why people would think he's just a mean bastard, but even my dad, who's not really a deep, let's read into this character (he's still wholly convinced that Claude was only a test subject) person, gets a kick out of him.

Date: 2007-02-25 01:44 pm (UTC)Grey's Anatomy: I really can't understand what's about that show that interests people so much. It's good show, but it's not that good I think.
Heroes: Trust me, you're not the only one who likes HRG. Lurks at twop and you'll see the legion of HRG fans there is. I personnally love him too, and even find him quite... sexy. WHAT? That ought to be told, J.Coleman has something :D

Date: 2007-02-25 04:54 pm (UTC)What I like about Grey's is that it's all on the surface, so you don't really have to examine each moment and it's just enjoyable fun sometimes and yes, it occasionally makes me cry. I don't think it deserves all the attention it gets, and I certainly don't think it's better than some shows, but *shrugs*.
I don't really love the guy, he's just done too much, but I like him and the writer's idea of what they're doing with him. I think Monday's episode is going to be my favorite.

Date: 2007-02-26 12:05 pm (UTC)Exactly! I think it's a good show but the fact that people keep screaming that it's the best show, it makes me wonder if I'm not abnormal for not liking it. And I hate when a show gets all this attention. I like when show get lots of attention but not that much. It's not fair and I'm not even sure there is a best show.
Gosh, that was my Grey's Anatomy rant. :D
As for HRG, I change my mind every scene. Sometimes I hate him, and then he goes all emotional over Claire, and I can't help but loving him. Though I love him when he's bitchy with Sylar too :D

Now, a good catchphrase for Heroes could have been "Now that you've met Claire's Daddy, wait till you meet Doctor Who" :D Just saying... (you completely spoiled me with that show!)

Like has to be the understatement of the year :D I'm so in love with this show that I already watched the first season at least four times, and the second two or three depending the episodes.
And I'm actually in a state where I can't wait for the next season, but I guess it's how it's meant to be. I'll go from love to hate about the next season everyday until the season starts. And in the meantime I'll just have to watch the show a fifth time *headdesk*
