Straight to the cut...
This is one of the better Lee-centric episodes, IMO. Of course I loved it, y'all know who my favorite character is.
I can't quite figure out if Kara's death just hit me, or seeing people deal with it was what got me in this episode. Adama seeing that birthday card broke my heart though. The man's becoming more fragile and yet treating Lee with more hostility. It's driving me crazy.
Sam showing his heartbreak on the viper was well done, until he fell and started staring at Lee's lips and I got weird thoughts. I started giggling then. But I loved the ending, I find it intriguing, amusing and sad that they're bonding now. If it's true about Anders/MT next season, I'd like to see more of this.
Adama's confusing me. Seriously. Why doesn't he just come out and say to Lee that he cannot lose him and that he's afraid of losing him? We're seeing how much it's hurting that he lost Kara, and Lee's his blood, his only son left (and YAY to Lee for mentioning Zak).
And Lee. *huggles* They've brought him back. If only to confuse me a little. But just about his relationship with his grandfather. When he was talking about his grandfather telling him to be a good boy, but not too good (with the cute tap on his nose), he talked with such affection, but then he mentioned that he hated what he did as a lawyer, was that right? I dunno.
I want to gets lots of Six next week, as the preview hopefully hinted. Lots and lots. And dude, what was the preview about?
I wanted to talk about Kara's death real quick. I keep thinking it's permanant. Kara hated the talk about her "destiny", she wanted to believe that she could make her own destiny. So, to do that, she killed herself? What better way to make it your own then to stop any possibility of playing to someone else?
This would apply of course, IMHO, if Kara were truly dead. Knowing something about RMD and his love of his Starbuck, I really doubt he would totally get rid of her. (That's just speculation) Even if they did take Katee's name out of the credits.
I enjoyed this one like I haven't since early S3. That's sad.

Date: 2007-03-12 03:41 am (UTC)Hah. Yes, me too. Love Lee, loved this episode. So much better an episode for him than "Black Market," thank goodness.
I can't quite figure out if Kara's death just hit me, or seeing people deal with it was what got me in this episode.
The latter, for me. I mean, I've mostly liked Kara, and I did think last week's episode was good, but Kara's never really been "my" character. But seeing Lee, Sam, and Papadama grieve over her? That got me.
Of course, Papadama also annoyed me seriously. He's really horrible at communicating with Lee, isn't he?

but Kara's never really been "my" character
Same here. I'll probably miss her, but I like the aftermath here.
Sam surprised me here, just for the fact that I liked him.

Boy howdy. I can't figure out what's happening with them! He's mad at Lee for thinking his pain is greater than his but seems to be saying or thinking that there's no way Lee's pain meets his. So, what? This path could have been interesting if it wasn't so damn confusing and frustrating.
I mean, why would Kara's death drive a wedge between them unless one of them's to blame? And I don't think Adama blames Lee.

Date: 2007-03-12 04:01 am (UTC)I kinda liked how they dealed with Kara's death. I was surprised by that because I like mentions but I really don't like whole episodes that seem to revolve around it. But it worked well. For BSG at least.
